Sync 2 doesn't support applink unfortunately, you'd need Sync 3 for that. I think the only way you can do it is to stream from the phone via Bluetooth

Just in case this is helpful...

Using an Android phone (iPhone may or not have the same functionality) you can pair the phone to the Sync 2 over Bluetooth which will allow you to make and receive calls while using any Sync 2 audio source (e.g. FM, DAB).

If you set the Sync 2 audio source to be the Phone then you can stream Spotify to the car audio over Bluetooth. The Sync 2 entertainment screen will show the current track details and you can pause and skip backwards and forwards using the touchscreen. The steering wheel controls also work. Make sure that the audio volume is turned up on the phone as the car volume works with whatever volume it gets from the phone.

As the steering wheel controls work it is possible that Sync 2 voice control of the Spotify stream also works but I haven't tried as I never have much success with voice control.

I have a Nexus 5X and I run Google Maps for navigation, TomTom Speed Cameras in overlay window mode and Spotify in the background and it all works perfectly. I previously did the same with a Nexus 5 but it couldn't charge as fast as the battery drained. I now use the Nexus 5 for Waze in a second cradle.

Ppft, I definatley make up for my mechanical knowledge with tech knowledge. (@Stevec)

Yep, Applink doesn't work with Sync2
Yes, you need to pair your phone with Bluetooth (or plug in, will explain after)
Yes, you need to navigate to the sound area and put your phone as the input.

Equally a slightly quicker way is to hit play on spotify, then hop in your car, plug it into the USB and it'll auto play :).

Its quicker to open the music folder from itunes on the computer and copy the albums direct from there.

Trouble was that my music folder, didn't contain everything I wanted....with album art etc..

So I tried to just copy what was on my iPod, but when you back it up it does something funny to the files, so you can only put them back onto another apple device....:(

In this day and age I really can't understand why you can't just drag music you own, direct from an iPod to a flash drive...

Luckily I've still got an old windows laptop, and managed to do it using media player, and a free download call Syncios...... It was just a bit slow:)
