Has anybody tried running Michelin sport cup 2 tires on a PP car. I plan on doing 4 hpde's this year and I want a better tire than the P-zero.

Not a big difference really. Sport cup 2 are $150 more for a set of 4
255/35/19 front and rear 275/35/19. I just wanted to know if anybody had any experience using the michelin sport cup 2 and if it really is a far superior tire over everything else.

If you are only doing a few track events a year and are daily driving your car I would recommend something with a little better treadwear. You'll go through the Sport Cups pretty fast if you are putting 10K miles per year on them.

An Extreme Performance Summer tire like the Yoko AD08R or Hankook R-S3 would last a bit longer and probably be a bit cheaper. Some of the pricing depends on the size though.

That being said, the Sport Cups are supposed to be a great tire. I've never used them personally though.

Get RE71R and go 275/35R18 in the front and 285/35R18 rear.

If you drive a lot you will go through these tires in 10K

Go with the Pilot Super Sport, AD08R, or RS3. RE71Rs don't like heavy cars or hot weather conditions. When cold, they are FAST, but hot, they wear out and get greasy quickly.

Thread revival: Has anyone run these on a PP car at this point? Looking at doing 305/30 at all 4 corners and will only be driven on track

Ha, you all are missing out. I have been running the Cup 2's since October. 2014 when I bought the car. They wear good when taken care of. Tire pressure, rotation et al. 285's and 305's. Keep up with the P cars in the corners and own the BMW M4's. My buddies with their GT350's run similar lap times as we run together. Much fun to pass on the inside of those European cars. LOL

I'm on my 3rd set. 10 to 12 days/year 4 sessions usually.
P car is a Porsche.

If you're daily driving your car, MPSC is a bad choice. If you're only doing 4 track days, just get a set of RS3 or AD08R.

MPSC is about an NT01 grip.

I personally like NT01 better.

RE71R has better ultimate peak grip than both tires. So if you can afford RE71R they are great. But again, I don't think it's worth it if you're doing 4 HPDE a year and daily driving on the same set of tires.

Just get Yokohama AD08R and thank me later. That's my favorite street tire.

I bought a set of wheels from hulk_smash and they included AD08R 295s on all corners and I gotta say they are the best tire I've ever used!

I recently brought the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S (255/45/18) to replace the P-zero all season on a non-PP car. I must say they are an amazing tire with phenomenal grip in wet weather as well as dry. I have yet to test them on the track, but I'll soon find out in a couple weeks.

Actually the P-Zero's are not a bad track tire. They actually have ok manners and pretty good grip if you can get them HOT. The best part is that you can make friends with your local tire places and pick them up as takeoffs with a few hundred miles on them for cheap.
