Here's what mine sounds like.
I think it's the gauge pod plastic chrome rings because they squeak when I touch them. Any feedback would be great!
That sounds brutal. I didnt have that much noise. It does seem to be coming from the speedometer area. You have to take it apart and investigate. Try to move things with your hands to see whats actually loose.

Did you use some instructions or pictures to take this apart? I just don't want to mess up taking it apart.

No instructions. I took the aluminum trim apart countless times including the left driver side under the vent. After that i could see the bolts holding the speedometer trim. I applied controlled force to get the clips loose, even though i m kind of a meat head hitting the gym once a day. Just be careful and use an interior trim tool kit as well. Its a plastic toolkit sold in any auto store.

Is there a bolt on the right side, to the remove the rings? Also, do you have to remove the whole right dash with the ac vents to remove the cluster?

No the passenger side vent stays but center vents will come off with the aluminum trim together. Mine is a pp gt so the center gauges also come out. Here is the order to do things;

Open your glove box and remove the small aluminum trim on the right side

Remove the center big aluminum trim with gauges and vents starting from the right side

Remove the left bottom aluminum trim by the driver side

Remove the top left aluminum trim with the light switch by taking one screw off

Remove the bottom left black plastic trim where the sunglass holder is by taking two screws off

Remove the key detector black trim with slots located at the bottom right side of the steering wheel

Now you can see all the screws holding the speedometer gauge cluster together

2 screws by left driver side vent 2 screws by the steering wheel( left and right one each)

After all those screws are gone. You just pull on the speedometer to take it out.

It seems alot of work but be patient and gentle. If you try to get this done at a dealer, i can guarantee you that they will break something cause they rush things and have no patience.

Thanks for the instructions. It was a lot of work but I was able to get it done. Though I still hear the popping noise. I noticed that my dash makes the noise when I put pressure on it. Here's a link: [ame]
So hopefully I can find a fix.

Was the gauge trim ring noise kinda like a sole key on a metal key ring - like a little "jingle" every so often, or so was it present when going into corners or just present all the time? Almost as if the key slides side to side on the ring?
