Speedometer/Tach lighting very dim

Anyone else have the problem with the lighting behind to speedo-tack not getting full brightness? Yes I've turned the dimmer up all the way. I've tried the auto setting and bothe the day and night settings to no avail. The rest of the instruments are fine, (info, Sync, gas, temp) just very very dim on the speedo-tach. I'm not ruling out me being stupid and missing something.

I had a similar issue where the LCD screen in the dash was so dim I could see it in the daytime, the car was very hot as it was parked outside in the middle of summer, once it cooled down I stopped at a gas station for gas and when I turned it back on it was normal brightness.not sure if it's related or even relevant here though
