Well, raising children with no discipline leads to this. Feeling the pain does not help. What a world we live in now, I am armed with a knife again, after not having one for two years. It's just not safe out there any more. Semper Fi!!!!!!!

Get a new bumper on ebay and a new fog light housing for $100 and call it a day. As long as the headlight/hood/fender are fine then it should not be more than $700 to fix it yourself. I went through something like this back in Sept and was able to repair for around $600.

Definitely can be fixed for less than $1500. New complete takeoff bumper assembly on eBay can be purchased between $3-600. Will come with fog light housing and lower splitter. Sell the extra parts and recoup a few dollars.

Oh wow...I can only imagine how upsetting that must have been to start your day.

I had a similar experience 10 years back when someone crunched the fender of my Miata while it was parked on the street. Like you, the car was black, it was night time when I drove the car home and I didn't discover it until the next day.

In my case, I was able to figure out who hit me as the driveway across from where I was parked, held a Ford Exploder with a suspicious smudge on the bumper. I went to the police station, explained what happened. They followed me back to the location, knocked on the guy's door and he genuinely seemed surprised that he had backed into my car. His insurance paid for everything, story ended ok.

My point is that with so many pickup trucks and SUVs out there and backup sensors/cameras still not in every vehicle, it's possible that they just didn't notice. You don't need to hit a car very hard to do the kind of damage that you have there...Of course it's still 100% their responsibility but it might not mean that they don't have morals. Mistakes happen...wouldn't hurt to give them the benefit of the doubt.

In any case, that's a super crappy thing to find on your gorgeous new car. Please keep us posted.

There's a good chance that the other driver is totally unaware that he hit your car. Some drivers are oblivious especially when they're yakking on their phones and pay no attention to their surroundings.
A friend of mine was at a mall waiting to pull into a spot as another car was backing out. My friend was astonished as that car forcefully rammed his car and then slowly drove away as if nothing had happened.
The responding police officer said this type of thing happens frequently. So it may not be a matter of morals, just plain old stupidity. Not that that helps.
I always park as far away as possible, especially when I'm driving my Mustang.
Good luck with your repair.

Check out their ebay page.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/bumperamerica1/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=

They sell bumpers and things, price it out. It's going to be more than people in here think. If it cost more than your deductible to fix it, I would file the claim. Keeping incidents off your carfax for resale is shady business anyways. That's why I have a hard time buying used cars... because you never know what happened to them even with a Carfax report.

I had to get my front bumper replaced back in July from damage (2 dogs ran out in front of me, swerved and made impact in a little colver/ditch). The bumper/clips and all of that was a little over $800 (OEM) and then around $230 for paint. You will not only need a new bumper but the fog bezels as well.

You might be able to find a take off with everything but you could be waiting because you have a PP which is different from the other bumpers (can't tell if aero/lip was damaged).

Similar thing happen to me with the bumper cover about 2 weeks ago. Was able to find a take off on ebay with matching color for around $250.
Just curious - who was the eBay seller and if you don't mind, how was the bumper when you received it? Any major issues with what was received vs. what was advertised?

Check the security footage and catch the fucker. I have no tolerance for people who don't respect other people's property.

This stuff make my blood boil. Parking lots are cesspools and a prime test sample for studies in human behavior.

I'm a very patient person and really slow to anger, but there's zero excuse for not making the effort to look before opening a door and to know your surroundings when backing out of a parking spot. This stuff shouldn't happen, but when it DOES, a person should have made enough effort to NOT do it that they can tell when they hit something.

Perfect opportunity to upgrade to the Roush fascia :headbang:

But for real, this happened to my mom recently at a casino so there was cameras everywhere. They found the tape and according to her it was infuriating to watch as an old man backed into her, got out and looked, hopped back in and parked a couple spots down from her and left nothing. So be prepared for that if they have cameras :headbonk:

I damaged my front bumper a while back. Totally my fault. Thought I was in reverse but I was in 1st and lurched the car forward in our parking garage.

Anyway, here's a pic of the take off bumper I bought on Ebay. I think with delivery it was around $600. It was practically brand new and I replaced it myself. Not too difficult.

Hard to tell from the pics but my headlight is pushed in as well. If it was just the bumper I would just get another. I thought it was just a headlight bracket but I stopped by a body shop this AM for a rough estimate and it looks like the headlight housing is busted (which according to the shop means you need a new headlight?). The headlight alone is $1300. Looks like the hood fender alignment is off as well which means something shifted, bent or broke. Again this was an eyeball estimate.

I called FARMERS insurance and they said I could get an estimate from one of their "preferred shops" to see if I want to proceed with filing the claim since the estimate is free. I'm obviously going to use my own shop for the actual repair. My question is whether the use of their estimate will be of any value and will it be binding on what they will pay out? Will they lowball me and am I stuck with their estimate if I bring it to another shop? Or should I just bring it to my shop and have them handle it from here on out?
