Do you guys have any ideas on how to temporarily have the plate on the front bumper since the car might arrive any day now (without damaging the paint? I will stand out from every other car without a front plate and will no doubt be pulled over here (vancouver, BC).
Can you get a temporary tag?

They are available for pre-order now and will be shipping on 12/19 or 12/20! Cost is $52.95, with models available for all Mustang variants. The base shipping cost is $7.25. I've sent my $$ in tonight.

Awesome. I'll be ordering one right now.

But before I do that. What do you guys think looks better, plate to the side around the "fangs", or possibly between the headlight and foglight.

Craig has confirmed that it won't go between the headlight/foglight with his bracket. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to do that without drilling?

The adhesive tape attachment method is meh. I think I'd rather drill the splitter than deal with adhesive. The S197 bracket is a much better design.

It's not "meh" if you don't want a hole in your splitter, in my opinion. The front bumper fascia is a totally different design from the S197, which was more accessible because of the open lower intake area.

If the 3M automotive tape can hold 41lbs of rocks static, I think it will be OK to hold a license plate and bracket.

I've see that clip and yeah, it'll probably be a reliable hold. I simply prefer old school hardware over adhesive.

Oh it uses tape. Will it damage the paint, and since it's so strong...how will one take the bracket off if one is ever inclined?

Just like the other brackets, there is a mounting base. The bracket holding the plate has a screw that makes the plate removable. The base itself can be removed with fishing line. I would not expect it to damage paint upon removal. This is similar to how the rear deck lid spoilers are attached, except they also use bolts.

My preference would have been to have a totally detachable unit, but the grille configuration on the S550 doesn't easily facilitate that. To me, I prefer where the plate is located with this bracket and to not drill any holes.

I'm still kinda iffy about the adhesive. It will be fine if your car is not a DD and also if your in a place where you only deal with rain. But where I am we deal with snow, slush, and salt also its going to be a DD. Maybe an extreme test regarding these elements?

I have used the previous versions of the bracket, admittedly without a 3M adhesive, through all kinds of weather conditions, as my previous Mustangs, like this one, are daily drivers.

It certainly could be the case that extreme weather conditions could affect the bond. However, just like other automotive parts that use automotive tape (spoilers, emblems), they seem to stand up OK in most cases.

I just received mine today, so I have already placed the bracket holder on the front bumper. I've got some photos here, and of course, there are photos on Craig's website.

By the way, I don't get a commission :) I've just appreciated Craig's attention to detail in the past versions I've had of his product.

So I'm not sure anyone answered this question. Don't want to start a new thread. Is there an option without drilling to put the plate between the headlight and foglight?

And I know having it off center isn't for everyone, but if you had to choose a location off center, would you put it between the upper and lower fangs, or between the headlight and foglight like the evo look.

I am not certain if I understand the position to which you are referring, but if you mean along the midline of the bumper with the base mounted above the foglight, there doesn't seem to be enough surface area to mount it there.

And I know having it off center isn't for everyone, but if you had to choose a location off center, would you put it between the upper and lower fangs, or between the headlight and foglight like the evo look.
I would put it in the location where the base mounts for the sturdiest bond. Of course, I prefer the middle, so my opinion is not worth much :)

Some folks might be aware of Craig's Custom Mustang Brackets. The products provided are an excellent solution to mount the front plate without drilling holes in the bumper cover. I've had one for my 2007 GT, I have one now for my 2010 GT and also one for my 2001 Bullitt.

I've been in touch with Craig about the S550 front bumper and how a mounting solution would be devised. The trick will be to insert the lower arms of the bracket and then secure them without removing the plastic grilles. The '94-'04s and '05-'14 have open lower grilles in order to mount and tighten the wingnuts that clamp the bracket to the bumper cover.

He told me that he will be doing his measurements and design work in early August to finalize a product. I am attaching a photo he shared about how this would work.

I have faith he will produce a great product that will save the front bumper covers from being drilled. It might be good for folks with the EcoBoost model to drop him a line and let him know you are interested, as I think he will be working on the GT first.

For those of you outside of North America, I also suggest contacting him and describing what your potential requirements would be.

I am passing along information as a satisfied customer of a product with great fitment and NO DRILLING!
Ordered my no-drill for my Ecoboost. It came in last night. Install in just a couple of minute. Well built and designed and the plate can easily be removed in minutes. Thanks for the link Tony! :headbang:
