Hey guys,

I would love to delete the center bar that separates the two cut outs for the front grilles to create one large, aggressive grille cut out with a large honeycomb custom cut insert to fit the but I'm not sure if it would be possible.

For one, does anyone know the cost of a replacement front bumper?

And two, would deleting that center bar take away too much structural integrity to be feasible? I wouldn't want it to end up wobbling all over the place as I think it would look cheap if so.

It seems like it would be a pretty straight forward job for a quality body shop to do in theory. Just saw off the piece, bondo/epoxy, sand and paint.

What do you all think? Anyone done a photoshop of something like this? I'd love to see it if so!

It is not as simple as you think. First off behind that center section is the bumper core support (the real functional bumper). That is one of the main reasons why that section is there. I don't know exactly how much room is between the support and the outside of the bumper section. There might be enough room to have your large grille look.

The other major problem is that it will not be as easy as bondo/epoxy and paint. Short term that solution will work just fine. Over time however that area covered in bondo will begin to crack in the shape of the missing piece. This is because of different temperature expansion rates of the bondo and ABS plastic as well as the constant flexing from wind the bumper will be subjected to during normal driving.

The right way to do it would be to use your bondo/epoxy to modify a bumper replacement. From there you can create a mold of your new bumper in fiberglass or whatever molding process you would like. After this mold is created you can then recreate your new bumper in full fiberglass or even carbon fiber.

I seem to recall that Rocket Mustang as having a big open grill.. Perhaps mold it using that as a guide ?

Sounds like a interesting idea. I have a raw silver bumper that has a little bit of damage on the passenger side that you can use. I'll let it go to you for 100 + shipping.

I tried to chop what I thought that you were asking about. Is this it?

I made the Pony a bit larger and also moved it down to the center of the grille for a little more balanced look.

I have no idea what you'd use for a bumper though, unless you could work out something behind the grille.

yuck. Looks like a charger. I like the separation of the grilles. I think the GT350 front end is perfection.
