Recall "work" done (i.e. one cable tie fitted) and the service department have fobbed me off again regarding the window. However this time they've sent it to the bodywork department. So at least they are acknowledging that this is a problem. That or they believed me when I said I wouldn't take it back unless fixed.

The reason I say "fobbed off" is because surely this is a mechanical issue - the window not dropping sufficiently - so a service department job. Yes, alignment obviously plays a part, but the car has already been to the body shop to get panels aligned, which made the window problem worse.

If they just rehang the door out of line so that the window doesn't catch, I will refuse to take it back.

Dropped the car off yesterday. Enquired about a lift home lift. Was told there is a bus stop down the road, had to get two buses home.
Waiting to hear, not holding my breath.
Car in for leaking boot and fault with the sat nav.

Jesus if that was me i would have been having a very loud conversation with the service advisor along the lines of,i have bought your halo car at nigh on 40K and you expect me to catch the bus. Dealer principal would need to descend from on high for a frank discussion on customer relations. Not acceptable.

Courtesy car for any warranty or recall. Or I rent, take taxis, and put the bill in. They soon get the message. If ThinkFord don't have a courtesy car they get them from Enterprise for a quid a go. Give them the problem.

Got home to find a letter from Ford.

SWMBO was excited as she thought it might be to do with the Mustang on order, as it had come from Ford HQ in the UK rather than the dealers.

She was sadly disappointed - Ford would like to offer me incentives to purchase either an S-Max (I used to have a Titanium-X Sport) or a Mondeo (brother had one).

Now if only they'd like to offer me a discount on some bits for the Mustang - that would prove that their Marketing folks had their finger on the pulse.

For those picking their Mustangs up this weekend - Enjoy

I suppose I am bit to laid back about it all. Not very comfotable kicking up a fuss, just wont be spending any money with them again. Picked it up earlier, but I had to call them to find out if it was ready.
Not very good customer service really, wouldn't expect anything else though.
If Ford want to sell those Vignale things and get repeat customers they need to up their service.

Was at Macrae and Dick in Perth today, the same group as the NC500 dealership, for the wiring loom recall. Called up a week or so ago and they went through the process of registering me as a customer together with car details. Service chap was very polite and kept apologising for the time it was taking (it was not taking long). Booked in for 10am today with the stipulation that I'd be waiting and they'd look at it there and then. Got a text immediately after the phone call confirming the appointment and another last night reminding me about it.
Arrived ten minutes early this morning to find they were expecting me to leave the car. Told them I was staying and handed over the keys in return for a token for the sludge dispenser.
Around 11am I went over and asked for a progress report, to be told the car was in the workshop and had been for some time. Can only assume they pushed it in as my car does not go anywhere quietly and I was sitting right next to the workshop.
Anyway, it was done shortly after. "It needed done then" I said. "Yes it's done" was the reply so took the key and left.
Only on the way home did it occur to me that he didn't say they'd done it...only that it was done ;)
Anyway, the experience was fine if a little longer than expected. I wouldn't have too much of a problem going back if necessary and they are pleasant enough to deal with.

Pass marks. Probably won't do better :ford:

Service department got back to me (at 7pm Friday evening!) to tell me that the body shop had sent the car back to them and said it was a case of adjusting the window mechanism, not the door, as I expected.

The guy was actually very helpful and agreeable, acknowledging that there was a problem and that it was unacceptable. After discussing some possible solutions he said it was their problem and not mine and that they'd make sure it was sorted.

This should be standard service, but it still comes as a surprise not to have to fight for everything.

Dealer phoned me last Friday:
Car is in Zeebrugge having the underseal done. Should be here at the dealer on Dec10. Fine cause I will be on holiday and arranged for taking delivery on 22 Dec. Woohoo, nice Xmass present.

Dealer phoned me today:
Car has been delivered at dealership this morning!
Can I please come in and take delivery of it tomorrow?

Me:
I cannot, I am working away in the highlands and will only be able to come in on Friday afyernoon.

Dealer:
We'll throw in a couple of perks, swap my wheels, install the Stow 'n Show and a one year of free service if I get the finance done for tomorrow.
Me:
Getting slightly annoyed now.
I am self employed, i tell him. I cannot just tell the client, oh my new car is here, can we finish this job next year? I'll have nothing to come back to if I do that.
So why the rush now all of a sudden?

Dealer:
Tomorrow is month end and they want to move the car out so it counts for a November sales!

Me:
Are you serious??? You must be fucking kidding me? So now, if I do not do the finance tomorrow, I lose those perks?

Dealer:
Yes

Me:
I do not know whether to tell him to take the car and shove it or laugh, so I laugh. I say goodbye and hang up.

I am impressed that they got the car there so quick and believe me, I want to tell my client that we can finish this next year but you know. I have waited 8 months, so a few more days is not going to make a difference.
For the dealer yes, cause it makes a difference for their sales but so what?
My only concern is that some guy walks into the dealer tomorrow and says, I want that car and here's the cash for it. They will sell it in a heartbeat. The car is not officially mine and they have the right to do it.

This fucking sucks

Name and shame Henry! I could probably guess though.

Put it behind you buddy, car will still be there when you're ready to pick up. When you do pick it up go over it with a fine tooth comb. Then I expect to see you out and about ;)

Fair enough if the incentives aren't available if you don't do the thing that they're offering incentives to do, however still an unfortunate situation.

I've still not understood why Ford cannot remotely take finance payment - your credit history is not going to be different whether you're there on not. Even if they need you to scan countersigned documents (or even post them signed copies) - there should be a way to pay without being in the dealership in this day and age!

I agree to a point. However, as I am paying cash for the car, I feel it should be on my terms. And tomorrow is year end for my business as well. I do not want to take out that much money just because it suits their sales.
They have given me the option to pay remotely but it is just not possible. Where I work during daytime, I have no internet connection, not even normal phone coverage. It's in the wilderness and they just do not seem understand that.

It should be on your terms, they'll want it in this months sales, but, end of the day, you're the customer, so it's when it is convenient for >YOU<.

Getting that sale through before month end must be worth some serious money to them if they're prepared to throw you a ÂŁ700 (retail) bone to collect it early.

What's ÂŁ700? They are offering a hour of their time and a free service, which you should tell them where to put that!

Tell them to fuck off and you will come get it when YOUR ready. They should have got it here quicker if they wanted the sale in before month end. Cheek of it!
