No, no SC2's use Acoustic Technology. I believe more road noise from the tires comes through in the rear of the car than the front and probably the reason Ford chose AT for the rear tires.

I am curious if you had a chance to weigh the tires? Tire rack lists the FP 305/30/20 as actually being lighter than other spec 305s (although I have personally discovered those posted weights to be up to 5lbs off what I have weighed on my digital postal scale).
I have not weighed the tires but I can later today and post it here and yes I have seen the tire weights on Tire Rack to be wrong also.

By the way, are you the same member that has been on the FocusRS.org forum for the last few years? I think we have talked about wheels and tires on that forum as well.

Yes indeed I am and yes we have spoken in the past! I got rid of my RS last Fall because I was sick of the oil leaks. Every time I turned around, there was more oil dripping from somewhere else and the car would be back in the shop for weeks at a time.

Definitely let us know the weights if you can. I am probably going to be running the GT500 spec PS4S on my GT350R so am curious about the weight.

The GT500 OEM PSS4s 305/30/20 weighs 30.4 # and the 315/30/20 weighs 33.2 #.

Just noticed on Tirerack website that the FP 315/30/20 is quoted at 29lbs but the regular non-FP one is at 33lbs. Hmmmmmm looks like maybe they got them backwards.

The TireRack is wrong as they are many times with the weights of tires. The Ford Performance 315/30/20 does weigh 33.2 lbs.

And it makes more sense that the non-acoustic one would be lighter anyway. Thank you again for weighing them!

Even the non acoustic one probably weighs about the same. The foam can't weigh the 4 lbs difference and doubt there is a huge difference in the make up of the tire itself. Neither 315 can weigh less than the 305 anyway.

Forgive my question guys, but does the Acoustic tire have a more quiet ride? I assume so with the foam inside the tire.
Is that the reason it is called an Acoustic tire? Thanks.

Yes slightly quieter at particular frequencies mainly around 200 hZ. Also going over ruts and lines in the road are slightly quieter. At least 8 manufactures have acoustically quieter tires. All Tesla's have acoustic tires and some Mercedes.

Awesome. Thank you.
I had a feeling that was the reasoning, but wanted to be 100% sure.

Ummm...those are SWEET, T and DAMN they look good on that Rapid Red car! I now think I like 'em better than the 307's but it does look like they might be semi time-consuming to clean. But, a good, long MF stick brush should duit.

You sure are good at "baiting the hook," T. :-)
