My 18 base gt is ending up with a buyback. now, trying to choose what to get as a replacement vehicle.
The other day, I had the chance of driving a 2017 GT350 and I was amazed with the handling of it.

So, now I am debating if I should get the PP1 to get little bit more handling or get the base and upgrade the suspension later.
I love how the PP1 brembos look but I might just paint the base calipers.
Since I am not gonna do any track driving (maybe once a year) I dont think I need bigger cooler or brake... I go to drag strip maybe once a month but my temps were okay with 18 base gt.

so, my questions are;
How good is the pp1?
How good is the "Ford Performance Street Handling Pack (FPSHP)"? if I just go with non pp car and put this pack later?

My justification is as follows;
It is $4k extra to get the PP1 vs FPSHP is $1k+labor, lets say $1.5k.
I hate the base wheels and I dont mind having the pp1 wheels for a year or two till my tires are gone. If I get the base and wanted to upgrade the wheels it will be another $1k maybe.
So the question here again is does the other stuff (bigger cooler, unique chassis tuning, bigger brakes worth it?) and how good is pp1 compared to FPSHP?

on top of everything I would love to have the 3.73 rear gears to shift more and have more acceleration.

I just wanted to get your opinions. thanks in advance.

The general consensus seems to be go the PP if you can swing it. It has a lot of upgrades that are tough to replicate for the money spent.

I personally bought a base 2015 GT and upgraded my suspension and it's great I love it. But, even after all my upgrades I still don't have the Torsen diff, PP underbody/cowl braces, etc. which I kinda want now. I don't regret my decision as there was no way for me to get a PP with an auto back then.

It's a pretty significant improvement in handling, braking and grip.

The Street Handling pack is just the PP1 dampers painted blue with lowering springs. Don't bother with that. There are many better options for the same price or less.

I also bought a base and immediately regretted not getting the PP. That said, I've managed to turn my car into something that handles far better. Even with that, I'm missing the Brembos, the Torsen and the larger radiator, and had to buy wheels that could fit adequately wide rubber. The package is still very good value at $4k and I recommend it for getting a car that is competent off the showroom floor. The '18 base is better than the '15, but it's still got a lot of room for improvement. If you do ever track the car, the base brakes will limit you, and the clutch pack diff is less durable and not as good for on-throttle cornering.

Drive both, you'll see.

I thought it is just strut tower brace, k member, stiffer sway bars and suspension. I didnt know about the underbody/cowl braces. good to know.

Whenever I try to add any wheel it forces me to get the whole package.

plus left over 18's should be a steal right now...
I got my 18 with a good deal. since this is gonna be a replacement vehicle I have to pay the msrp difference regardless 2018 or 2019. Thats why I am gonna go with the 19 hoping that they resolved the issues with 18s.

I will add myself as another guy with a base that wished he had a PP car instead. However, in my case, I do like to track my car at the local road courses 3 times a year. I could benefit from the PP upgrades. In your case, it sounds like you won't make much use of the PP options. However, like they say, "it's better to have it and not need it, than not have it and need it."

My Saleen is a base mustang with a few of Saleen's upgrades. I have ST-XTA coilovers sitting in my garage that I've been contemplating installing. I'm seriously considering going 18' GT PP1, Steeda, or 18' PP1 base with Saleen.White Label package.

yeah I guess I am gonna get it.
I am living in a small city and we don't have any track here. But, at the same time I will probably move to a big city in a year. Like you said it is better to have it. If I have access to a road course track, I would be going every weekend.
