If that's the case, then why can't Tesla sell straight to customer in the same way. The battle is ongoing. It would open the flood gates for the buyer to go straight to the manufacturer. Stealerships need to die IMO.Ford is going through a lot of effort to try to see these GTs land in real enthusiasts hands, not sit on a dealer showroom to attract people into the dealership...and not to the dealers friend who will just store it away for later sale.
I don't think it's about protecting their rich customers or anyone else. It's a $400k+ supercar, I don't know if I'd call that protecting anyone ;) It's arguably a much different car than the ones sold through dealerships and if Ford says up front (as they did) that this will not go through normal channels - I don't see how dealers could demand to be in the middle and I don't see why Ford should feel obligated to sell it through them,.
The wealthy can get one. they will just have to pay more. Everything and everyone has a price. If FoMoCo was able to "fix" the cost of the GT350 at MSRP, some would complain they were "meddling in the free market"....I have read an article or 2 that complained about the way Ford is handling the sale of the GT. Some wealthy people will not be able to simply write a check and get a car....at least until some hit the secondary market......regardless of what Ford does, some will not be happy.
The GT and GT350 are worlds apart in design, engineering and cost. Let's be honest, the GT350 is a production line Mustang with a unique engine....and with production numbers exceeding 8K units, not particularly rare.
^^^AMEN!!!!*** I haven't read this entire thread, but I will make this one comment.
No way in hell should Ford corporate or even the local dealer reimburse folks for any additional money they paid for their car.

Amen. Nobody is forced to pay anything for any car.Oh god god,,,, where to start. If you don't want to or didn't want to pay an ADM,,,,,, DONT ! Call around find a MSRP or don't buy the car! Yes I paid an ADM, and could care less about it now. If you choose not to I don't care as you should not care if I or others did.
I put this as an example; I really wanted to go to game 4 of the World Series. I even went to Wriggly Field with my 2 boys in hopes to get tickets,,,,, they were $1500+. Too much for me, should I get pissed off at the Cubs? Or how about the guy selling them ? NO it's a supply and demand thing and we delt with it found a bar and watched it on tv and had a great time!! If you don't like the ADM, they make a lot of other brands and makes of cars out there to choose from.
The dealer ADM is exactly that. They buy said car and then sell and adjust pricing due to demand. That's why Manufactured Suggested Price (MSRP) is just that, a suggestion.Amen. Nobody is forced to pay anything for any car.
Yeah, it's a car, not health insurance.Amen. Nobody is forced to pay anything for any car.
LOL, I see what you did there! :cheers:Yeah, it's a car, not health insurance.
Not at all. I didn't buy a GT350 or GT350R but I did get an RS at MSRP. I guess my only point is that with the GT program, Ford is demonstrating that they can, in fact, "enforce" their MSRP. Admittedly a MUCH smaller set of buyers and therefore more manageable but if they can do it with the GT then why not with other Ford Performance offerings and stifle the dealer ADM practices?Sounds like the OP is having some buyers remorse?
