Shifter boot question

How bad would it be to drive around for a couple weeks without a shift boot? Is it just cosmetic or does it serve a purpose?

Jacking this for a slight question; why doesn't ford offer the option to change the boot color with different interior colors, like a red boot if you go red? I know its not just them, but always wondered why most manufacturers don't

we can only speculate. but it probably has something to do with the CIA. one of their operatives, Stan Smith, leaked some information and said that allowing this type of customization is unconstitutional....addle:
