Not really. At the time I wanted a clean car with low mileage for around $20k and I got that. Two years and tons of fun later I spent maybe $7k enjoying myself. Last I checked that's no where near a GT350. And even if I was anywhere near a GT350 territory Id rather have a "lower valued car"(which I got) with a flexible budget to modify things(which I did). You have a 18 GT? You could of gotten a Z8! I was debating at the time of purchase to get an EB and have fun with it, or get a stock GT and do nothing, I got the EB.OP could have bought a GT350 with the $$$ he spent on his Ecoboost.
Thanks for this information, it aligns with mainly what i'm looking for. It doe's seem like this is the best bang for the buck right now and I see them under $30k for cars with less then 20k miles on them. Ideally that's what i'm looking for. I definitely would want a PP package for sure. PP1 is more then sufficient. I honestly think $25k isn't out of the question, stock or mod'd. Around here stock EB's of the same year are selling for $20-21k. And they have higher mileage and aren't even Premium models let alone PP. To me you're getting thousands of dollars in parts as a free bonus in that regard, I'm literally selling a EB Premium PP car with $7k worth of parts on it(sure lets say all the aesthetic ones are subjective). There's still $3000 worth of performance \ power \ common modifications done to the vehicle that 99% of any car enthusiast would do to it anyway that actually changes the way the car performs, for the better. AND you're getting all the stock components as well(hood, headlights, exhaust, grille, airbox, IC, springs, tail lights, etc etc). Those stock parts are easily resold themselves for $2000. What are 16 EB Premium PP cars with under 20kmi selling for in your region?I second shooting for a 15-17 GT with the performance package. best deal right now would be a 16-17 you could get a certified pre owned to get the extended “warranty” aka service plan and the lower interest rate on a used car.
Gen II Coyotes are a sweetheart engine. Down a little on power from the 18+ but very stout and the cars are a good buyers value right now.
Performance Package cars will have the following and are ABSOLUTELY worth paying a few grand over a base car if you’re performance oriented:
Lower/stiffer springs
HD struts/shocks
Strut tower brace
Larger radiator/HD hoses/increased coolant capacity
Oil cooler
6 piston Brembo brakes, larger rotors
3.73 gears
TORSEN rear differential (mechanical, not clutch driven which is great for durability) and it puts power DOWN in the corners
Oil psi/vacuum gauges
19x9/19x9.5 PP specific wheels
Maybe missing a couple of items.
With that being said, I think you need to be realistic with your pricing of your EB. The aftermarket parts aren’t going to add significant value to the vehicle. Your best bet may be return to stock the obvious/easy stuff and sell the rest separate to recoup the costs. I don’t think stock or modded you’ll get $25k for the car private party, or trade.
This explains a'lot of what I could do next with this thing, thanks. It sounds like Id need to go with an aftermarket Tune and my FPP Tune would just be throwaway at that point then id imagine? As far as why i'm even thinking of the idea of going to a GT is probably mainly just to gain that sound. The extra power and ability to make power to me is a bonus. Maybe in the future a Supercharger would be in play, but my EB running at around ~330HP right now is plenty fun for me around town. Its not necessary power i'm after. Id imagine even with the weight of the GT, anything over 400hp would be fine, with that added audible. The first things I would honestly do would probably be a tune+exhaust+DP.So I may have missed it in your post but what exactly is your main goal in Upgrading to a 5.0? Are you after the power gains or the sound?
if the latter, then yeah there’s really nothing you can do to an EB to replicate that V8 sound, full stop.
However, if the the former...
Without even building the block, you can easily make 400+ rwhp on a conservative tune by upgrading the turbo and downpipe.
Just off the top of my head, the Vargas and the NX2 are drop in replacements that come in around 1600 so add in the inter-cooler and labor costs for installation (unless you plan on doing it yourself), I’d price the entire thing around 2k. You could look into adding a few supplemental mods like camshafts, fuel injectors & spark plugs but that would be up to you.
With as much as you’ve spent on the car already, I’d look into going that route as opposed to trying to unload your highly personalized EB to someone and starting over on a brand new car.
Thanks! The license plate holder is actually gone, old impulse buy. I was thinking of actually painting the side skirts gloss black for a change for the longest time. But yes they are easily removable. Without saying the front plate and decals would all be taken off. As far as Autos go, im only interested in the 6spd. Im not racing this at the track or chasing numbers. I get that the A10 will outrun any manual trans but im not street racing for money or anything. Not really my style but interesting none the less. My advice would be to get rid of the more flamboyant pieces like the yellow rear license plate holder, Murica front plate thing, the decals, and may be the yellow runner side skirts. Those changes may help tone it down a little and attract more interested buyers.
Regarding a GT...I won't really comment on the price cause I haven't really looked lately, but an '18 GT PP1 A10 base model is a sweet spot for performance. Gets you the Gen 3 Coyote, 460(+) hp w/ 7,500 rpm redline, and the updated front and rear end, and the 10 speed auto (a huge upgrade for acceleration and overall performance), and the numerous performance package upgrades. 0-60 in 3.8 seconds and 1/4 mile in 12.1 @ 120 mph per Car and Driver; and some others are hitting high 11s at the drag strip in that car, bone stock.
If it's in your budget, I'd definitely recommend the Premium over the base. Lots of nice upgrades.
