Advice needed on selling '15 GT

$1,900 upcharge for new tires? Those Pirelli OEMs are about $1k for a full set...

I didn't realize they were so "cheap". Bottom line is I'll take $28,000 before I run out to the tire store. Not trying to "screw" anyone here, and I certainly don't mean to make it sound that way.

That is what I figured mine is worth and has same options. I was surprised how much it lost though.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I'm going to go with replacement tires, either being very good condition used ones or entry level new ones matching existing tires size.

IRS debt is primarily due to a divorce I went through last year which caused me to start over financially. I lost health care and tax exemptions. I pay child support, but can't claim my son as an exemption anymore. How messed up is that? I'm self employed, so I get double whammied.

Anyway enough of all that. Thanks again.

I bought her brand new January last year with a sticker price of $40,500. She'll go up for sale later this week at $29,900.

Sorry to hear all of that, hope you get top dollar! I would look in the "for sale" section here and see if you can get some good take-of tires, many guys seem to replace the wheels and/or tires so you may be able to get a good deal that way. Stay strong, this is likely only the beginning of something better!

I own a PP '15 GT that I will be listing for sale soon. She's the ruby red love of my life, with black 19" rims. A 4/15 IRS debt forces me to break up with her.

She was my 20,000 mile DD, and in 13 months time, I have warn the initial Pirellis down to minimum tread, and they really need replacing. Should I sell her as-is, or spend a decent $1,200 - $1,500 for quality replacements?

Go to tirerack you can get 4 new tires for ONLY $745.00. No need for Pirellis

Wow, don't buy tires. Ask what the car is worth and if people give you static about the tires replace them cheap. A lot of people look at cars and pay no attention to tires.

Just curious, why did you buy the car if you knew you were going to be hit with all those whammies, ie., divorce, taxes, child support, and so on? Seems like you're losing even more money with the hit on the Mustang. I'm not being an ass, just curious. Maybe this all happened after you bought your car? I'm "assuming" it has.

Took the car home second week of Janurary last year. (Now ex-wife) blindsides me on 2/9/2015 telling me she already retained an attorney and wants a divorce. If I knew that was coming, I wouldn't have bought the car.

Property settlement was "fair" but life after marriage has hindered me financially. Being self employed, I now had to get health insurance on the open market as opposed to family coverage I was getting. In addition I bought a house and became cash poor as I wasn't in a position to make my quarterly tax estimated payments as I had major surgery during all this. I pay all my bills on time (including medical) to keep my credit score up. All this while adjusting to now being a single income person with increased expenditures, with child support being one of them.

2015 was a garbage year financially for me, and I need to make 2016 a regroup year for me, even if that means " losing" $10,000 in selling the Stang.

I checked KBB, just a rough estimate of a 2015 Premium PP, 20k miles, Good Condition, $28 to a private party. Maybe +$1 for 401a and -$1 for new tires.

Carmax would probably be something less than that

I'm guessing that I'm at a 50/50 chance the buyer may be getting a car loan, and it's better to replace the tires and ask more as that same buyer may not have the cash flow for new tires after loan down payment. I'm looking for a private sale transaction, as I know a dealer has to factor profit where I get less.

Is that wrong thinking? I'm just hopefully looking at least a dollar for dollar return on "investment" on tires, with a soon thereafter sale occurring.

What's your payoff on the car lien?

its a 31 to 32k car ... a dealer would pay upwards of 30k for that car at the auction.....see it every week
