Hey, Just bought seats from a 2018-2020 going to put them in my 65 mustang. Just want to run the electric seat adjustment and lumbar. Can I just leave the airbag in and unplugged it has not been deployed. I think I have identified the large connector that provides the power to the adj and lumbar. Am I correct that the airbag connector is separate from this large connector? I want to make sure I don't set off the seat airbag.

I thought airbags had their own connections that are color coded? Yellow i though.
Could be wrong, idk?

Afaik the airbag connectors are shorted with special pins when they are disconnected to minimize the chance of an accidental deployment. According to the electrical diagram there are two airbags/connectors in each seat: side; and upper side.

All connecters under the seats are gray (small one) or black (large one) I think the large one is connected to the seat adjusters, lumbar, maybe heater/cooler. It has 9 pins.

We're actually in the same town. I almost bought a 2018 cloth set I saw for sale in Houston a few months ago thinking they would be great for a 65 fastback I want to build. To bad I don't have the 65 fastback yet and but I guess seats could be a good starting point for the project. The airbag wiring is part of the harness/plugs you are describing. You can go further downstream in the wiring and isolate the airbag plugs. You could also easily peel up the seat covers and then remove the airbags. Selling the unfired airbags could help you recoup some money too. I'd come by and help, it would be interesting to see your project.

Taking the airbags out and selling them would probably be a good thing to do. Watched a video on it looks like a pain but could do it and like you say maybe get some money. As far as the seat connecter goes do you know what wires would make the adjuster and lumbar work? I am thinking the red/purple wire is power and blue/black wire is ground just want to make sure. These are the large pins in the connecter. I am thinking the small pins in the large connecter operate the memory (not needed on the 65) or seat cooler and heater (also not needed on 65). im me your phone on fb.

OK guy got it. All positions work. For/aft, up/down, tilt and even lumbar. All you have to do is hook up red/purple wire to power and blue/black wire to ground. These are the large pins in the connecter. Now all I have to do is physically mount them in the car and run new circuit with a 30amp fuse piece of cake. I will have new 2018 Mustang seats in a 1965 Mustang Fastback. COOL
