Not sure $399 and $750 are about the same price wise.

You should be comparing the original 500 to the 399 but with OTS. Tunes... Not the 500 plus a custom tune to 399 with an OTS tune.

Unleashed from Torrie using SCT is not a OTS tune, its a custom e-tune with unlimited revisions.

I've seen a lot of vent installs on the base models and do you see any kind of effect on the unit down the road with the extreme cold from the AC?

No. But I prefer the windshield mount myself. You can always stuff a little something behind it as well
