Well I have scoured the internet for a 6th Gen Vent Mount/Dash Mount STL and came up short. I want my SCT X4 Mounted properly. My mental capacity cannot stick things to windows.

Think ill make the vent a little prettier if my measurements are correct. I kind of just thought of adding inserts to direct airflow away from the device.. then realizing I'll never have the heat on. This is why we test print.

During my search I found an STL for a 5th Gen so I figured id remix it with the quad lock and union nut/bolt mount.

I'm a perfectionist in no way is this finished lol. If my measurements are correct ill make it look OEM. Once I finish it ill make sure to give out the STL links.

Redesigned the look of the vent mount insert to look more OEM. Might add some contour/bezel if I don't like the flat look. Testing both top layer up/down to see which looks best. Had to add some tree support into the insert of the quad lock as I wanted the "floating" look. Regardless the device covers this from my eyes, but the passenger that's never there might see it.

Well the rabbit hole continues. After a few more prototypes and hating the look I tried another path. I learned the vent housing is actually 3 parts. A clip ring, a cover, and the vent inserts. So I decided to create a vent insert using the existing OEM material. I have to wait to print that one but my original plan was to use create a new clip ring, and put the OEM cover over it to delete all PETG/ABS prints. Regardless of laying it correctly, sanding with 200,400,600 then doing a matte black vinyl spray still didn't give it the look I wanted. So I stopped trying to re-create the wheel and am using the OEM vent cover and either replacing the vent clip, but I'll likely use my second STL as it's going to be much more stable and still provide a great look.

Here are my two final products. Both will be covered with the OEM insert. I'll show the finished product once I am complete.

Quad Lock Vent Insert only. I'll round the edges out on the front before I put out any STL files for people. You'll see what I mean on the other prototype.

If the stability of the vent insert alone doesn't cut it I will move onto this model.

Okayyyyy. Learned some things.

One. If you want this as a cell phone mount its ezpz.

Two. If you plan on routing an sct 4x cable be prepared to punch a hole in your vent. It's pretty easy to patch. I'll go through all the steps in my guide.

End result. You tell me.

Lol I didnt even notice my dog in the background in that passenger view photo. Hes pissed that I am an hour late for his dinner. Routing that OBD cable under the dash and into the vent took longer than expected.
