Good afternoon, I have an SCT X4 for my 2019 Bullitt with a tune from Steeda. Over the weekend I tried updating the firmware on the device through WiFi. The download seemed to stall after a bit and stopped. A message appeared on the screen to complete the install via a PC. I attempted to do so but the device updater doesn’t see the X4; the screen on the X4 no longer comes on either. There is a light on the bottom of the X4 next to the USB port that lights up green and then purple. I’ve tried 3 different computers, 2 different cables along with different USB ports on the computers. The X4 is not being detected at all. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a remedy without having to send it back to SCT? I contacted their customer service through the “instant messaging” interface. Their suggestion was to send the unit in to be fixed for $200, obviously not my first choice but I may have to if there is no way to fix it on my own.

Have you tried reinstalling the drivers on the PC?

When you plug it in to your PC is your PC showing anything? Even if it's just "USB device" or is it acting like you've totally plugged nothing in?

Yes, I reinstalled the drivers; I even uninstalled the device updater and reinstalled it as well. Still nothing, device doesn’t even show up in the control panel as a generic “usb device”. I suspect something is wrong with the X4 itself

That sucks. I wonder if it lost connection momentarily during the firmware update and basically got into a bricked state. 200 is insane, if customer is just using product as expected, then it should be free to fix it.

For what it is worth I never liked the SCT Scanner. It was nothing but trouble and left me stranded with a no start problem why back when I installed a Boss 302 Manifold on my 2011 GT and tuned it. I wouldn't stir paint with one. I contacted SCT and they wanted me to send the unit back for repair and at a cost that I don't recall. And that boys and girls was in 2012. 12 years ago, seems like thing have not changed with them.

You need to make sure the cables are high speed data cables not charging cables, they are different ($19.00 later)
