Cheers mate, in all honesty, Im happy to wait with a new order (if it goes down that route). I don't believe wait times are as long as they used to be (I may be wrong).

I am insistent that I want in essence an exact replacement (magnetic, auto, no additions) so hope we do go down the new order route.
Might know of a magnetic with auto and black leather coming in December, will try and find out what the spec is, if it's of any interest to you?

You can use the paddles in any mode..... but in normal mode, as soon as you touch the throttle it overrides the paddles...

As an example, if I'm in normal mode, with selector in D, I will flick the left paddle, on the approach to a roundabout, a junction, or sometimes a bend in the road...

The gearbox will change down, and stay in that gear, until you touch the throttle again..:)
I think it is more intelligent than that, mine will revert back to auto after a few seconds or until the revs drop too low or too high and then change accordingly.

If I do this for a roundabout it stays in the lower gear but will change up as I pull away. But you are rright, it does take account of acceleration and braking. I reckon it is more intelligent than me; not too hard really...

For those in the know, can someone confirm or not that the mods I have declared on my insurance should be covered? Just got off from a phone call with the insurers which has left me somewhat worried!

That depends on insurers, and, what they will cover, it's all dependent usually into these categories:
Don't care, Won't cover - Rare to find these
Wan't to know, Won't cover - Fairly Common
Want to know, Cover a portion of the value depending on each item
Want to know, Cover the whole value

If they're under the first two, then, yes, they wont pay out for the mods replacements. Even if you've paid more to have the mods declared. Check your policy documentation, or the insurers website, maybe able to help.

You are within your rights to demand any parts of the car back, as it is still 'yours' so if you want your exhaust, Interior LEDs, Wheels etc, you can ask for it back.

The strange thing is that when talked to the engineer who was working this case and I mentioned getting the mods back, I was told to submit the invoices to the insurers

Sound like he thought you meant reclaim the cost of them. You should be able to phsyically ask them to take the mods off, and they'll legally have to.

When declaring modifications you should also be declaring a higher value for the vehicle.

When I insured mine I increased the cars value to ÂŁ39,995 to cover cost of modifications, so should the worse happen depending on your contract they pay out an inflated value due to modifications.

However not all insurance companies work on this basis. My M3 I had to send photographs and invoices of the modifications to declare its insured value at ÂŁ15,000, that is the highest they were willing to go due to its age/mileage.

If they have already declared his car a write-off, AND they're going to pay out for the mods, in what way are they his?

I've never written a car off so have no experience BUT...I'm pretty sure once they declare it a write-off they will look to pay out a figure based on what MrWolf has told them about the mods and what his policy says about the insurance value of those mods i.e. if market value of his car is, say, ÂŁ33K+ÂŁ3K in mods, if he then says he's taking the mods off they're going to reduce their payment by ÂŁ3K or thereabouts.

MrWolf you need to check your policy docs carefully. What's got you worried?

My Adrian Flux policy pays out 100% of the value of the mods in the event of a loss, a big reason for me choosing them over someone else that would only pay out something silly like ÂŁ1500 or 5% of the value of the car for mods. I laughed at him when he said that.

What are Flux charging you buddy, as DirectLine will probably not warrant my GT 350 stuff, (too much power they say). Some come renewal in January I will no doubt need to find a new insurer.

Eh? You've lost me.
I thought they weren't covering his mods, as in, wont replace, which is why I said he could ask for them back. Not sure why you wouldn't be able to ask for them back regardless?

Ah gotcha.

It will depend what his policy says.

AIUI in order for the insurance to be valid the mods would have to be declared. That almost certainly would've put the price up and therefore some payout will be due for those mods in the event of a write off.

Until the payout is agreed MrWolf owns the whole car. If he wants to remove some parts that payout would be reduced.

You can't expect the insurance company to pay out for a modded car if those mods have already been removed as MrWolf would get the payout PLUS have those mods to sell on.

That's my understanding anyway.

Think we both understand it the same way, my thinking was, wouldn't cover full value of mods, therefore, may as well get them back, with nothing covered. etc etc, only Tom knows really!
