It says that replacement is recommended, not required. As such does Ford have to replace it out of warranty?Definitely try somewhere else. I just had the hood on my Explorer replaced for the same thing. There were actually three other hoods being replaced at the dealer I went to.
There is a TSB for it.

Aluminum Panel Corrosion 19-2026

My service guy said Ford has had no luck with spot fixes. What warranty are you referring to? The corrosion policy is 5 years unlimited miles. It says that replacement is recommended, not required. As such does Ford have to replace it out of warranty?
Thank you, I was thinking the 3/36 B to B. With 5yr corrosion OP should be OK with no out of pocket. My service guy said Ford has had no luck with spot fixes. What warranty are you referring to? The corrosion policy is 5 years unlimited miles.
I'm thinking the dealer dismissed it out of hand and never contacted Ford. If that's the case I would certainly find another dealer. Wouldn't want them touching my car.My understanding is the dealer just takes pictures and submits them to Ford, and it's up to Ford to approve or deny the claim.
Yes, not loving those wheels. What happened to the wheels that came on it?Yeah that was me. I did have mixed comments about it. Some love it some hate it.
I’m not sure. I’m still under warranty. The shop told me that they have just been replacing the hoods lately instead of trying to fix it.It says that replacement is recommended, not required. As such does Ford have to replace it out of warranty?
So that looks like a rock chip to me.
If thats what it is, why would Ford be responsible ?
The paint chipped off from the corrosion under the paint. Not from a rock chip. The whole seam under the lip is doing it
