My dealer rep gave me a shout about a trainer vehicle coming to his dealership today. I dropped in at lunch, with a co worker who also has a GT PP on order. I was hoping it was going to be a Guard or Black, but it was Ruby Red, which is what he has on order, so he got to see his color first hand.
Here are a few pics, nothing we haven't seen before.
A few thoughts (based on what was a pilot production vehicle)
Exterior fit and finish are better than my 11. It sounds petty, but the door shut sound really made an impact. Sounded more "solid" and better built. On this one, the fit and finish and gaps were all good.
Paint was decent, nice color.
I think the wheels on this one have a bit of an underbite, personally, I would like to see the wheel well filled out a bit more.
Interior was very very impressive. When we drove in my '11 on the way back, it suddenly looked old, outdated, and slab like. Smelled great.
Seats are VERY good compared to my '11. I think my '01 BULLITT's seats were the most comfortable I have been in for long rides, we'll see how the '15 will be, but looks promising.
I liked the controls and gauges on the '15. The toggles are going to be a conversation item with passengers. Gauges are nice, confirmed no halo. The touchscreen seemed a bit slower than an iPad/iPhone, but good enough. Easy to read, acceptable resolution. Didn't get to play with the features much. I kind of want to do that with my own car, part of the fun on first day of ownership. Fingerprints will be an issue ;)
Overall I was very impressed. The car seems very advanced over my '11, obviously much more modern looking, and it feels like a real "reboot" of the brand.
I felt guilty on the drive back. I will miss my '11, but not as much now.
