Rubber piece under front end

The small rubber piece that hangs down beneath the front bumper on my EB, what is it for and is it needed? And please, refrain from the "Ford wouldn't have put it there if it wasn't needed" comments. Thanks guys!!!

Without knowing 100% which piece you're talking about, I would assume you mean the rubber air deflector that most vehicles have. It apparently directs air up into the engine bay. (that's what I was told while selling radiators)

Well it's quite flimsy so if it has the ability to direct air at all, it would only direct it to the sides of the car..
