You'd think so but I've honestly seen more younger guys buying the base gt which is a lot cheaper than a loaded Eco.
My eco premium with navi and back up sensors was priced the same as a bare bones GT on the lot, so I can back up that statement somewhat.

In regards to insurance, FL is a no fault state so we already pay more than everyone else and when I was 20 with my '13 5.0 premium I only paid $786 every six months for it. No mommy and daddy help I promise.

In regards to rice, it doesn't matter what's under the hood, it's just the mentality behind it.

Yeah, but I always thought the definition of rice was a slow car dressed up in a cheesy way to appear fast.

But the S550 IS a fast car...so isn't dressing it up to the owner's discretion NOT rice? I mean, even a v6 Mustang these days is a pretty fast car.

This ^

I just laughed went it immediately went into a Eco / GT rant, instead of just people screwing up a 550... There will be plenty of 550 owners going for the "herra frush" and "rotsa negative camber", I'm sure.

I've seen posts here of ,"The most beautiful Mustang ever", opened and laughed. Definitely a big difference of opinions of what's cool, even here.

One thing for sure.... I'd much rather see a guy with a bone stock one with this kinda mod to the passenger seat representing a Mustang.... Then a d00d throwing his money with these kinda mods anyday....
That is the sexiest Mustang I have ever seen!

My Eco stickered at almost 38 which is why I said it.
Agree rice has nothing to do with motor. I could care less what motor you have
Make it quick with tasteful mods and I'll love it. Not sure why some v8 people feel the need to make backhanded comments constantly.

...look at the other thread with people trying to define the S550? Sports Car, GT, Pony, and Muscle.

All it takes is ONE word to get roused up.

Please - if I knew how I would - someone make this 13th a great day and create a poll to define the term "rice" and lets see how that goes. Lets make lots of popcorn for all

I don't think GT people are bashing Eco guys. I love the ecoboost it is an extremely fun car to drive and I would have been very happy either way. I think the point they are getting at is, yes any car can be riced regardless of motor but you see more people ricing i4s especially t4s just because of typical cost and the eco MAY fall victim more just because that's what those people like to drive. That being said I drove behind a 2012 GT with twin fart cans so any vehicle engine can fall victim.

I generally reading this forum am thinking that I am too old (39) for this... Amount if irrelevant shit people put on their cars the very next day after delivery doesn't stop to surprise me...

Maybe should've bought a Buick... ;-)

Can we all make a collective pact and effort to not rice out this generation of Mustangs please...

I get that ricing % increases as time increase due to the depreciation leading to low income individuals I.E. teenage hooners having access to the cars and doing stupid shit to them but sometimes you will see cars that are fairly new that get riced out almost immediately. I.E. Camaros
Camaro resale values are still fairly high given that they're all 2010+ for the new ones. you're not going to find one in good condition and clean title for under $12k in my area. That being said, they are the first to have big ass 20" neon green rims, monster green paint jobs with tiger claw marks on them, chrome grills and neon underglows.
I live in Los Angeles.

Sick of it.

As far as the 2015 Mustang is concerned, I think ford absolutely nailed it on the head and got looks down. Even base models got a nice little aggressive splitter in the front.
Is this a serious thread?

And why is it so hard for you to believe there is people that actually want the Turbo 4 engine over the 8. With just a tune you have similar performance as the 8 but with much better fuel economy and lower insurance cost.. he might have chose the Turbo Ecoboost because he needed better fuel economy because he has a longer drive to work then most and its his daily driver and 32 mpg is important to him..Who knows..?

Fake aero is the definition of rice. You know, the whole idea of Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements with zero function.

I feel like a lot of things are objectively shitty looking, but in the end, if someone's paying big money to own one of these things, let them have at it. Just because I think fake vents and scoops are lame as hell doesn't mean someone else has to have the same opinion.
I think tasteful 'fake' vents are ok. Not everything has to strictly be about function. The stock 'spoiler' and 'diffuser' aren't functional...but I don't think anyone's calling them 'rice'. Just keep it tasteful. Judgments will have to be made on a case by case basis. Then, as you allude to, there's that whole subjectivity issue to overcome...

Thankfully I haven't seen to many fender hash marks.

Guess I am one of them.

The stripes I like, but the fender hash's are not right on Fords, more of a dodge thing.

What? It was started on Shelby Cobras... Then moved on to mark what side of the car the driver was on for when certain American and European cars started racing - basically to assist response/medical crews. I think Dodge was the actually the last to use them.

And the problem isn't going to be ricing them..it's going to be stancing them:
