Retrofitted "Hood vents" - pics

After waiting and waiting for someone to take the plunge and cut their bonnet, it seems the bloody Kiwi bastards beat us to it!!! :doh:

The images are from CTB performance Facebook page - plenty more to be found there.
I'm not sure that it works as well as I'd hoped, but time will tell I suppose.

If any of you Kiwis are able to get pics of the underside, that would be greatly appreciated.

To me, it looks like they need some shaping on the sides in order to match the profile of the front lip.
Anyone else care to express an opinion?

Are you referring to the way they fit or the colour?
Personally, if I was going to go this route (uncommitted), I'd be reshaping them so that the sides have the same profile as the front and then painting them gloss black.
Really, I'd want to see one up close and personal before deciding.
The yellow car seems to get away with it?..

Well, the whole lot really. Not a fan of the hood scoop, and the vents just look out of place. I agree that they would be better in gloss. And yes, your fine detail about the profile is valid, but I hadn't looked at the picture that closely and probably wouldn't have noticed until you pointed it out!

The yellow does look good from a distance!

Yeah nah, the fake scoop does nothing for me.

If I was going to do it (in NZ), and I have given it some thought but not looked into whether it's actually possible, I'd be using the OE ones from a US car.

The ones in those pictures look awful.
