Did any of you get an out of the blue phone call from a sales manager where you ordered your car from?

I did, thought the timing was a little odd, even asked if my salesman was still there LOL. He was just checking to assure me that they haven't forgotten about me. I took it as i.e. let's check to see if this guy is still alive.

No new information to report, why I don't bother calling them. I did tell him not to bump my order priority anymore!

Its just the first step of Fords new program to make sure 2015 Mustang sales go smoothly. Theres few other things on the "to do list" and also important info on how to speed up any backordered parts for the 2015 Mustang once its out. Ford is taking this release very seriously, even though on the surface people might think the opposite (because of what people think of as delays, yet Ford is still on time with their Fall release for 2015 Mustang. Keep in mind Fall doesnt even start till next week)

I was contacted in a way. I logged on to the Cotus tracker last Wednesday 9/10, like I do everyday, and I noticed my "ordered on" date had changed from 5/23/14 - when I ordered the car, to 9/9/14. I called the dealership and the manager got on the phone and said he took it upon himself to cancel my retail order and re-order it as dealer stock because he thought it was taking too long. He said he called Ford originally to see why I hadn't been even assigned a VIN yet and that's when they explained to him the difference between retail and stock order precedence. It's hard to believe he hadn't known about this from being in the business. So apparently Ford suggested he put it back through under dealer stock to put it on the fast track. He is the largest volume Ford dealer in Pennsylvania, too.

He said he was wondering if I was still alive since they hadn't heard from me. I guess he figured a customer would have been raising hell at this point typically. He said he thought it was stupid that dealers putting in stock orders now could take precedence over enthusiasts ordering on 5/20. I got the feeling I was one of the first to order a Mustang there back in May.

He could have just put in a stock unit identical to yours and you could have had the one that comes in first and he would have had one to sell.

Last correspondence I received was from my dealer on 8/29. He emailed me to let me know they're scheduling again "soon". Retail order 6/20 priority #10.

Change dealer. If he didnt know what people even on this forum know, then you will go through a lot of crap to get your Mustang. There was no need for him to cancel your order. He could have just put in a stock unit identical to yours and you could have had the one that comes in first and he would have had one to sell.

Haha, it wasn't very confidence inspiring. I thought as he was telling me this that he probably just set me back even more without even realizing it. Now I'm in the system as some guy who just ordered last week rather than a sorry sap who ordered nearly 4 months ago.

I can't cancel. I'm getting the car for $880 below invoice. Plus, they are the largest dealer in PA, and PA is a huge state, Philadelphia alone is huge and that's where the dealership is. That's got to mean something, right? RIGHT!?!? lol

No need for him to call me, I stay in weekly email contact with him. The latest from 9/10...

"Yes sir your mustang has been scheduled. I should have a VIN # maybe as soon as Friday once our new sheets get printed out with all scheduled vehicles. Thanks again"

If this is the case you would think info would be more forthcoming. Most of what we get is speculation not direct from the source.
