My stock PP summer tires weren't very sticky even in the 100* weather we had over the summer. Obviously its only worse and basically not drivable in 10* winter weather. its like driving one of those drift trikes with the hard plastic slidey wheels.
I won't be replacing them with the same set of rubber and i dont recommend them to anyone to be honest. That said i'm definitely interested to see the recommendations in this thread.

After a ridiculous amount of research and numerous questions asked on this forum, I went with the BF Goodrich G-Force Comp 2 A/S. Performance wise, especially in terms of hard driving in the warm months, they don't give up anything to the Pirelli summer only tires (outside of a race track).

The only A/S that is better is the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+, which is also better than most Summer Only Tires. The rest of the A/S options tend to lack significantly in warm weather performance.


Edit- I am getting the BFG installed on Friday, so I will be providing a review shortly.

Same question as stoli ↓↓↓ . And I'm assuming that you mean GT PP wheels.

If you're simply replacing summer performance tires with summer performance tires it's hard to avoid recommending Michelin Pilot Super Sports (available in both PP sizes, but the 275/40's 10" wide tread seems a bit much for 9" wide front wheels even though it's technically acceptable).

I ordered the NT555 G2 last month for the rear and just ordered the fronts this morning. 255/275 setup. So far the rears have been good. Like any street tires, don't expect them to hook in first. However, aside from that they seem to provide good grip, even during the cold. I took them out for runs in Mexico on sub 30 weather and they did well. Once the fronts on I will push it a little harder in twisties with more confidence since I've been running OHTSU which didn't leave me with a lot. But even on my mountain cruises last month I was pleased with the rear of the car not feeling loose on hard cornering with the throttle. I haven't driven in the rain with them but supposedly that's when they are supposed to really shine. Some say the performance in the rain are better than the dry.

I am also looking at these, does anyone have any experience in the snow with the G-Force Comp 2 A/S? I know they aren't the same as snow tires but I can't really afford a set of snow tires now and then a new set of A/S in the spring so I'm looking at just getting a new set of A/S now

I put a set on my sons 04 Mazda6 and they sounded like bad wheel bearings. Returned them the next day and put Cooper RS3A's on it and it was fine. Those Coopers did not perform well on my Mustang, the Conti DW's are in a different league (obviously they aren't A/S tires either). I'd really recommend the DW or Firestone http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...4WR9FHI5&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes I don't think a A/S tire is the way to go on this car. If you do, know you're giving up how it drives to an extent. Remember, everyone has a different opinion on it. Mine drove like poo on those Coopers.

I only had a lite dist of snow and some slop with the Comp 2 A/S a few weeks ago. I got around just fine, no problems at all tho I put my snow/ice set on after that. I got a day of drizzle and then a hard freeze then 3" of dry snow and I would not have wanted to have the Comp A/S on the car for that.
