replacement front 6.5 speaker

Hi,

I need to change my driver side 6.5 front speaker. (Its rattling like crazy even with low volume and bass)

Any recommendation?

(Car is equipped with Premium package speakers, no subwoofer)

I thought the speakers had to be 2ohms?

Do you also have the 9 speakers premoum sound?

I have just spoken to someone at Crutchfield.. and indeed the front low speakers are 4ohm from factory..

So your recommendation is correct.. thanks!!

Do you also have a Photo of the reardeck changed speakers?

Here is the rear. keep in mind you may want to put in some sound insulation. I did the entire trunk and bottom of the speaker shelf. Made a big different.

Did you also get the tweeters with the Powerbass speakers? If so, what OHM are they? Also, I assume you didn't use them since you have the 6 speaker system - any interest in selling them?

For the 6 speaker system the tweeters went in the pillars. I will have to look again for the photos comparing the factory to the Powerbass. Tried to do a side by side of each. I will look again and post the photos shortly.

Alright found the photos for the tweeters. The Powerbass speakers were not labeled so I have a photo of the manual. The factory tweeter is labeled 8 ohms. The powerbass replacement states 4 ohms.

The tweeter sound allot better. In the photo you can see the capacitor that mounted inline from Powerbass. The factory did not have one. So all the sound when directly to the speaker.

So would you say the PowerBass tweeter adds clarity or just more highs or both? Any harshness? Did you need to adjust the treble on the head unit?

The best way to describe it is a much clearer sound. I listen to Reggaeton. So I am setup on the powerful level of the stereo. Without the extended bass turned on. Only have had the speakers in for about 1 week so I have not had time to take them to my local audio dealer where I purchased them. They wanted to have the speakers adjusted professionally. It’s my daily driver. Overall a Hugh difference over the factory. Keep in mind they have a break in period. So, I don’t want to push them too hard.

I’ve been looking for a way to increase clarity of the highs, but wasn’t crazy about all the modifications needed to make other speakers fit. For 120 bucks, these look like an easy way to improve things. Thanks for the info, I’ll probably buy them and give them a shot.
