Looking to upgrade the 6.5 door speaker. I have the shaker 401a with sub. I tried infinity reference 6532EX but low bass was distorted. I’m just looking for something that doesn’t sound as muddy as the factory. I’ve already upgraded all the other speakers Including the sub. Not interested in adding an amp at this time. Suggestions?

Power bass, if you have a 9 speaker car they are 4ohm

If 12 speaker car 2ohm

I had a 9, but I bought an amp from 12 speaker car for 70 bucks, and I swapped the door stock 4ohn speakers for power bass 2ohn 6.5’s

They also have 4ohm direct replacements too

I got mine on crutchfield but here is link

What other speakers do you have? If you like the way they sound see if they have some for your doors.

Powerbass has two 2-ohm speakers:

First one is 88 db sensitivity, second is 90. Which one did you get? Don't know if 2 db difference is worth $50.

I have Infinity 3.5 in the doors, and RF Punch sub. Infinity 6.5 don't handle bass well. Don't know which RF 6.5 would be good, thus the thread.

well I kind of bought this, had an open box for 60 bucks. Lol so I just stuck the 6.5's out of the set in the door, didn't use the crossover or tweeter, though I think the crossover would be nice to filter out some rolloff sounds, but it sounds great 99% of time. sometimes in like 1 out of 100 songs I will hear a little higher notes than I think it should play if im listening. the crossover, I can't fit in the door, its so large, and im not rewriring everything.

I wish someone made a 6.5 with the inline filters on it, ie. rockford punch has speakers that has the crossover built in the 6.5's but they are 4ohm and that does me no good,

they also have these on amazon. I thought about trying them if I didn't get the powerless component for 60 bucks. but again, my car amp needs 2ohm 6,5's

I got the L2-6c's they had a set open box for 60 bucks, I did not use the crossover, because I can't figure out how to wire them/put them where they fit. I didn't use tweeter, but the speaker itself is solid, but wouldn't pay 120 for just those 2 speakers, and if you do, prob should use the crossover.

if you have 4 ohm, you have so many more options! barely anyone makes 2 ohm

I measured the grilles, they are 6sh inches. Yeah you could certainly make fit if you had right bracket, oversized 6 3/4

I read up on it, but I figured since the grille in door panel was only 6sh I didn’t do 7 inch speaker in end

This is probably not going to help, but I bought replacement speakers for a Harley. They are a JBL GTO638 speaker set. 2 ohms, 92 db sensitivity. They sounded great with the Harley system when riders used them. Again, I don't know if they have an application, here, but I thought I'd mention them. 6.5-6.75 inch. Good Luck.

Was buying the 12 speaker amp worth it coming from the premium 9 speaker setup? Debating on this myself.

I'm running the JBL GTO609c in the front doors and the A pillar without the crossover and the GTO329 for the 3.5" in the doors. Still on the factory shaker 12 amp. For the rear fill, I still have the stock coaxial but probably going to upgrade to the GTO629. I need to swap out the center dash speaker as I can hear it popping and crackling. Once I replace all the speakers, I'm going to add an amp for all these. As for the stock sub, it was the first to go. I added 2 Rockford Fosgate P2D4 12". I have a 20 year old Hifonics Nemesis amp that's still kicking. Just replacing the doors with the JBL pieces made such a huge difference in clarity, just not as loud.
You can run 4ohm speakers on the 2ohm amp and it will be fine. Running 2ohm on a 4ohm amp is where it gets to be an issue.

Crutchfield says those JBLs don’t fit - did you have to modify anything to get them to fit?
