Hi All,

It’s been 6 years so it’s that time. To reach the shuttle cock I’m sure the belly pan need to be removed. Can’t remember, can the belly pan come off without the splitter first being pulled off? I hate the idea of unsnapping the plastic lock tabs, always afraid of them breaking off.

I think the tabs only snap into the bumper, just can’t remember.

Thanks!

In my most humble opinion, it’s mucho easier to remove the entire front clip than it is to split the splitter from the belly pan. The front clip/splitter/belly pan all comes off as one piece. This opinion increases by a factor of X3 if you have a R splitter.

No, I did not have to remove the splitter. Just the belly pan.

No you don’t need to remove the splitter to drop the belly pan. I drop mine once a year to clean out the road grime and do a bolt/nut check…

in fact, I’m about to do just that this weekend 😉

I didn't remove anything to drain the coolant I just reached in put a hose on the drain and opened the tap. Lot easier.

Even on the R??? Huh...what the hell did I miss then?!?! Cuz the last time I had mine apart, I saw no way to get to that one row of screws to get the bellypan separated from the (R) splitter. Guess I'll have to try again and take another look.

Yes! I agree. And I have a Base, not an R. I'm totally open to being shown what I'm doing wrong but there was that most forward row of screws that I simply could not get out. Look forward to seeing what I'm doing wrong.

Well crap, now y’all got me thinking…and if I wasn’t sitting in mexico, I would be under my car already.

I could be confusing the rear diffuser that comes off all the time to remove the rocks. But I know I have had the belly pan off a couple times as well.

I will gladly stand corrected, and will report back this weekend unless someone else does first 😬

Well, this weekend I forged ahead and removed the splitter then the belly pan. Seemed to me splitter had to come off. Biggest PIA was removing the half moon clips inside the bumper.

well there ya go, I stand corrected…when the guys that track these cars say no way, I had to go back and re-evaluate without the assistance of a margarita 😉

That being said, I do like the whole bumper removal idea!

I will add this for the value tho — Aside from our current science project of separating the belly pan from a R splitter (or either one for that matter), if the options are separating the splitter or removing the entire pan/front assembly as one unit (as in my pic), the entire front assembly is far easier. I hate separating the R splitter.

It may be slightly more bolts and push pins, but if your splitter is in place correctly then I think it's easier to remove the entire bumper. It's my default method.
