Removing battery

I would like to remove the battery for winter storage. Will it do anything to the computer or the car if the battery is not hooked up for 5 months or more.?

As a electrician I have seen some home fire caused by trickle chargers

And as a consumer I have been using them for decades.
I also have experienced numerous recalls for dehumidifiers for fire hazard but no recall for a trickle charger.
The OP should do some research and make an educated decision.

below is the actual article from one of cases you cited. It was a Lithium-ion battery and it warns about overcharging. The OP's car, nor mine or yours, have Lithium batteries and the type of charger I provided a link for is a smart charger, it does not over charge a battery.
On the other hand with my luck tomorrow something will happen but I doubt it.
