Well thanks y'all for the advice. I was WAY overthinking it. I bought the car yesterday afternoon and the decal had been on less than 24 hours. I wiped with some waterless wash to make sure the surface was clean and literally took my thumb nail and picked at the edge and it peeled right off and left nothing behind. Very easy, then wiped again with waterless wash (Armour Detail Supply Adapt) and it is perfect. It didn't stick to the PPF at all... Very nice.... Crisis averted..
I bet there’s a coating on top of the PPF that prevented it from adhering too much. Didn’t even think of that until you said how easy it was to peel off. I’m a dummy 🤦‍♂️

I suspected that would be the outcome.

As for using 3M adhesive remover, I have seen that turn clear plastic cloudy, I would strongly hesitate using it on PPF.

So upon further research, I found that the car does have PPF but only on the bumper(s). I can't wrap my head around why someone would wrap the front and rear bumper but not touch the hood, mirrors or roof line? Yes, bumper for sure, but on my blue one I got more chips on the roof at the windshield and the hood... Oh well, I can always do more PPF when I have the stripes removed. I am going to get the side stripes deleted, gonna leave the hood, I like the hood :)

I have some of that 3M adhesive remover and it is NASTY stuff, very strong... I only used it one time and haven't used since. I used to get the glue off my fenders on the blue car when I removed the 5.0 badges and replaced with black ones.

In the right place, its fine. But on PPF? You are effectively dealing with clear plastic, I would hate for you to have burnt through the stuff.

I've never seen that D and I bet I've gone through three cans of the stuff using it to remove vinyl decals and film over the years.

The previous owner obviously wasn't the brightest bulb in the basket. <smile> If you're gonna film, you GOTZ to film where the airstream hits the vehicle the hardest and the leading edge of the roof is definitely one of those places.

I only used it one time and haven't used since.
If you don't think you'll ever use the rest, Alex..how about sending the remainder to me, that stuff is expensive but man, it beats the Goo Gone crowd hands down. <grin>

Edit: Forgot to mention that 3M makes a good percentage of the PPF sold in this country and have been for many years and I think they know which solvent works best for vinyl adhesives.

I looked closer, it is a can of aircraft adhesive remover ;). A bit strong. Yep, won't be using that LOL... I will keep it for cleaning gum off my shoes and stuff LOL.. Other than that decal, car is immaculate. I will be doing a semi stripe delete at some point. I want to remove the decals behind the rear tire to make it more in line of Mustang's past. Older Shelby's and Mach's had the stripe on the door but didn't continue behind the tire. Other than that, I like the graphics, the hood one is really cool...
