Unrelated to your reliability question but just wanted to throw out there to understand your local emissions requirements and keep that in mind when picking a power adder and more specifically a tuner for it.

Ohhhh, ok. Your opinion and what you've read but yet you say you've had both......SMH!

Anyways to the OP. I have had from a Procharger P600B from when they first came out back in '91 to a Vortech A,S,T and R trims to a Novi2000 to a PT-74, PT76 and Majestic 88mm turbo kits and NEVER had a problem with any of my turbo kits. Most recent had been my '14 GT with a whipple 2.3 kit that was trouble free as well. My turbo kit with the 88mm made 1177 RWHP and 1097 RWTQ on a old school 302 and I drove it for 2 years back/forth to work at 400 miles per week. Good luck with whatever you decide and if you have any of the turbo questuions, you can PM me or ask openly here.
Come on Brent, everyone knows turbo's are nothing but trouble!

Go Supercharger! My turbo cars were a PITA! You do get huge power but then you have all the the complexity of the tubing and packaging, dealing with the additional heat, and tuning.

The supercharger are OEM fitment, installs are clean and simple.

Man, where in the hell have you been? Good seeing you around. What do you drive now? I'm in a '16 PP GT for now waiting on a twin under the car kit if possible BUT JPC has a single kit coming and may have interest in that as well. You still drag race?

Married with two kids. Lol. Driving a 15 F150 ecoboost. Had 3 different s197 coyotes. The last was a 2013, stick car, I put a Paxton 2200 on. Ill probably get another toy next year, I'm not even sure what I want. I haven't raced since I sold the car, man I miss that car! I'll be on the lookout for your turbo setup! Good talking to you buddy!

Any of the top Turbo kits are going to be fine and reliable, likewise for the SC kits. Whipple, VMP are two kits that once installed (minus checking your belt) you really dont have to mess with once installed. Lots of guys get roped into the "price point" of some systems then you see them for sale 6 months later.

This is why I went S/C. Simplicity at its best in the world of power. Let me say this. If I was a gazillionaire I would have 10 vehicles 5 S/Cd and 5 Turbo'd. :)

Congrats on the family. I bet they are fun and a handful. Anyways, keep me posted and I mis my old car too.....it now has a BBC twin turbos running 4.0's from what I last saw back in Georgia.

turbo kits cost no more than a blower kit with the addition of headers and is just as simple to install. I just don't understand all the "simplicity" talk of a blower kit........again, I've had them both...... both are easy to install, make great power and are reliable.

One HUGE thing to consider is the board sponsor for your purchase. I cannot say specific ones to buy from because that wouldn't be fair but from my personal experiences, the ones that I have used on here have been absolutely top notch. Good luck.

Yup seen your stock and that's probably the way I'll be going. Which of the 3 would you suggest. I was thinking procharger but the price of the Paxton and vortech is appealing.
The paxton is hard to beat for what you get for the $$.

Out of what i call any

"base kit"

It has the greatest growing potential and hp per $$.

the "base" kit gives you an 8 sec capable s/c, 900 or so hp intercooler, but is still very efficient at low boost levels.

again, any of the kits are great, but our custom paxton package is def a great value.

the main reason you see other places "down play them", is because they simply aren't competitive with our packages. we are the #1 paxton / vortech auto dealer in the world!

getting an 8 sec potential kit for less than any other package isn't getting "roped" imho

Wondering if you could elaborate a little more about this? Doesn't have to include manufacturers names, just maybe things to look out for?

Only reason I ask is I've been on he verge of going FI, but have buddies who say to be careful. They are saying from experience adding FI to a car can be opening up a can of worms and that you have to then basically plan on constantly tweaking the car to keep it running right. Might have to do with our emission testing, but I don't think thats what they were basing their experience on, also none have Mustangs, so it might be apples to oranges. It's just my fear there is going to be other things required to keep my DD a DD that nobody mentions.

Excellent. Now what's the difference between Paxton and vortech. Thought they were the same

kits are identical other than head unit and logo

on the self lubricated kits, paxton gives you a larger head unit for the same $

no brainer to get the bigger head unit on the s550 for the same $$

I will add something that I am not sure has been mentioned yet: Reliability is going to be greatly affected by the tune. All the S550 kits are great, but I think choosing the right tuner is really an undervalued part of the process. If you have to supply the tune, I think Lund would be a great choice.

I would like to add that the fastest 1/4 mile time is made with an SuperCharged application. ;)
