Hey guys. Does anyone have experience with Redline oil? I was told its much better than motorcraft in terms of thermal degradation/temp co and a much better oil to have in hotter climates. Is it worth the extra bucks?

Any advice is appreciated. Here is a link to the Redline 5W-50

Been using only redline for awhile now. Great stuff. They are very transparent about their product and ingredients as well. Highly recommend!!

It looks to be better than Motorcraft but being the what if person I am with so many engine failures I can see also where some like me want to stick with the oil the supplement says to use just in case even though they would have to prove it there was an engine failure and you weren't using the oil it says to use.

Yea, that's exactly what I've been thinking, even though Redline meets the specs haha

I think either is fine and the most important thing is that you change oil frequently, especially if you run the car on the road course or in dusty conditions.

Actually there are very few oils that meet Ford's actual oil requirements after 2016. I'll try to find the resource I looked at. If you're unsure, just use MOTORCRAFT. That's all I've used so far and everything's been a-okay and very little burn.

I checked the spec WSS-M2C931-B/-C, it meets it. But I was thinking in terms of like actual quality, etc. Just figured since Ford goes with Motorcraft they're doing it to cheap out lol

Amsoil's warehouse is close to me and been using it for about 2500mi now. The engine is quieter throughout the revs and will change mine to it again here in the next 2wks before I deployed again.

Many years ago..was working lots of hours and neglecting my car...needless to say my engine got down to ~ quart or so by the time I check my oil...I honestly think it saved me from a blown engine.

FWIW...i use the ford oil on my 350.kinda paranoid about any engine issues and having something else in there.

Amsoil was definitely approved. I remember it vividly being on the list.

Motorcraft oil is by far form a sub par quality product. There have been multiple tests done that show it has outperformed many off the shelf brands such as Mobil 1 (not approved for the GT350), Castrol (also no approved), Valvoline (not approved) etc etc etc. One could maybe say no kidding but the fact that very few oils are of higher quality and are extremely premium says volumes.

All I have ever used in my high performance Fords is Castrol Syntec. My ‘09 GT500KR has a printed recommendation on the gas cap recommending only BP products be used in this car.
Never had a engine issue or burned any oil. Works great.

It's your prerogative to use oil's that don't meet the current manufacturers spec. If engine related issues do arise and they give you a hard time or decide to be extremely thorough and ask you for your receipts for the oil you used, that could be a $25,000 question.

If you're using a 5W50 oil that meets the spec, you are in fact using an oil the supplement says to use! Period. Dot. End of discussion. Brand is irrelevant. There are no warranty concerns to be had if you are using a Ford spec'd oil, such as Amsoil or Redline.
