I got these calipers a while ago and had them coated. The rebuild kit really didn’t have any instructions. The boots came with a rubber ring on the inside but I feel like these need to come out. It doesn’t sit right with that ring inside. See pic. Boot on the left has ring installed and boot in the middle does not. Anyone that has rebuilt these got any advice? Thanks
Tim

We’ll think I figured it out…. Those are the new seals, they were just shipped that way. I found the box they were shipped in and the instructions were written on the packaging foam with marker. Wtaf.
New seals are a little bit larger and are impossible to install.
Any ideas?

The rings go down in the bore to seal the piston and the seal/ boot should just press into the caliper with your fingers. I don’t know what kit you got, but I got mine from rock auto and they fit great. Are you using any type of assembly lube or at least brake fluid for assembly?

I can’t get the new rings to work, I’ve spent so much time on it and they won’t go. I’ve already rebuilt the other caliper, but this one is just fighting me. When I hold up the new seals to the old ones, they are about a 1/16” all around. The old ones go right back in…. Don’t know what to do

If nothing is wrong with the old ones, just reuse them. Caliper seals last 100k+ miles all the time. Another option is to order the set off of Rockauto. I know they fit.

x2 the rock auto ones fit. Assembly lube helps. The piston seal is in the bore and the boot seal goes around the upper ring on the piston.
