So I’ve been surfing the forum but not able to find a clear answer.
I have a 2015 base gt (6 speaker system) I upgraded my door and rear speakers to the jbl gto 629’s and added a sub in 2015 and felt the door and rear speakers still sounded bad at higher volume. I’ve read this would be due to the stock HU not having an amplifier.

I currently have a px6 (10.4 Phoenix audio headunit) installed and it came with the RCA inputs for the sub so I’m no longer using an LOC

Im looking to add an amp for the rear speakers and possibly upgrade my current and I’m using for the sub.

I seen this picture and wondering if someone could explain it to me.
From my understanding, this member has cut into the wire running to the rear speaker, running the wire into the LC2i,
through the rca’s into the aftermarket amp
and then to the rear deck speakers?

Also if I were to have an aftermarket amp I would then run the second set of rca’s from the LC2i to the second amp then suns correct

Your PX6 should have RCA outputs for front, rear and sub, so no need for a LOC.
Anyway... in my humble opinion there is no need for rear speakers either, so... :p
If you want to do rear speakers absolutely correctly prepare to buy a DSP that is able to do differential rearfill (means big $).

yeah I’m no longer using the loc.
I can go the dsp route.

my issue right now is how distorted everything sounds at volume as high as 16. The only bass that comes into the car is from the sub, meaning every other speaker from what I can guess, is under powered.

thanks for the reply, I’m sorry I’m terrible with terms, what exactly is a front stage? I’d assume that means replacing the front door speakers?

amped rear fill is a mistake IMO,a nice front stage call it a day

Also, I’m not sure how good it is, but the px6 has a dsp built into it, it gives me the ability to tweak each speaker and sub. But bass does not change and the same issues remain with music being distorted at higher volume.

You using the speaker outputs from the PX6? If yes, you got your answer to the distorted sound.

I’m not, I’m using the factory wire outputs from the wiring harness. My factory hu would do the same, lose clarity at higher volume. Once the volume gets to 16 it wouldn’t get any louder but any higher it would just lose clarity

Yea, it’s because the internal amp starts clipping. You have no external amp for the speakers except the sub. So you are using deck power. Get a good amplifier, connect it to the RCA outputs from the radio and the output of the amp to the speakers and the distortion will be gone.

When you go to a concert where is the sound?
If you have good seats in front of you,so thats your front stage
You want (IMO) your sound in the car to be the same, frontwards

If you amped up the rear speakers it would kill your front stage
Like the fella posted above me,I too never use rear speakers.

YMMV

Nice! Thank you for the information. So with using the RCA’s from the px6 HU, I wouldn’t need a LC2i. Just run the rca to the amp speaker wire from the amp to the doors. Can I run tweeters of this same wire?

If you have a HU with RCAs in the car already the LC2i is not needed

RCAs to your amp, your amp to your speakers..You can run your speakers
many different ways,a nice set of comps up front is a good place to start
