I have a premium gt with the regular audio system i ended up using a line output converter connected to the Rear Speakers and the Rear speakers have bass roll off. Not a good Clean signal.

What size terminal did you need for that bolt? Looks like its a 14/15mm head so it's probably bigger than the terminals that came with my amp install kit.

OK, real update:

Got all my stuff installed. I decided to mount the amp forward of the emergency kit in the spare well. I don't have it permanently bolted in, but it's zip-tied in there for now.

I pulled 12v keyed power from the harness on the rear passenger side speaker (thanks, draco!) and I've got juice, but I don't have sound. Betting I goofed the sub wiring (dual DVCs) though it's possible the amp is acting up. I'll troubleshoot that tomorrow.

Do you mind snapping a quick picture of the tire well? I'm considering doing the same but id like to get started on the bracket before my car gets here if possible :headbonk:

I'll try to remember to get some potato shots as I clean up and finalize things in there.

Also, turned out my issue was low voltage, not sub wiring. Rebuilt the + connection at the battery and now I'm golden. So far, I'm content with what I'm getting from the front signal. I tried it with the low-pass bottomed out and was still getting sound, so while it may not be a full range, it seems to be enough to fill in my music pretty effectively.

So to those who have been doing installs, did you find out if the premium 9 speaker stereo does indeed have the amplifier under the kick panel in the FRONT of the car? I thought I read that somewhere. Running an aftermarket amp in the spare wheel well would be great, but I'm not about to rewire the entire car...

There is indeed an amp under the drivers kick panel, and if you're properly installing an amp you have to go at least that far to run the batt cable anyways, pulling off one or two more trim pieces isnt going to kill you

At least you dont have to rip the dash 1/2 out like in most cars.

Nope, that is fine with me - IF EVERYTHING FITS. I don't suppose there is a ton of room in the front. I'd suspect a decent setup requiring an amp (5 way for compactness), and a channel summing unit. Would be nice to have a multiband EQ as well, but again, space.

I would suspect like most cars you have a digital signal running from the head unit to the amp, so unless you buy a really high end amp that can intercept this signal, you need to splice into the factory wires between the factory amp and the speaker to get a usable signal if you want to amplify. I've done it, it works, but it's a lot of wires. It's not the time spent, it's the effort of keeping it clean, well organized, and rattle free lol.

**EDIT** I just re-read this thread and found your diagram of the connections from the head unit to the factory amp. Looks like lots of noise cancellation, power on wire (audio enable), and actual separate wires for each speaker running in (analog signal)? If that is the case, I wonder if we could remove the factory amp completely and replace it with aftermarket...is the noise cancellation just for Ecoboost? Hmmmm

There's no reason why you couldn't do this, so far as I can tell. The caveat there being that you probably would not be able to use the factory amp location to physically install a four/five-channel amp. There's just not that much room behind the kick panel, from what I can tell.

You sure can, you just have to mount the amp in the trunk and run rca's up to the kick panel

Good grief I'm getting too cheap and lazy for this audio game lol.

On another note - since you have access to the wiring diagrams/service manual (Heinoceros) does it state how to remove the center speaker? Just by looking at it, it looks like a clip on piece - probably remove the aluminum center trim, and remove the speaker grille from between the two brows? I'm thinking if that center speaker is putting out enough noise, it's going to be come the weak link of the front audio if everything else is changed out.
