Most people with modification, especially those who abandoned the divorced rear spring to true coilover know that it is possible to rip out the shock mount from the chassis. We know the metal in the top rear shock mount area is thin but that area was never designed to take both the shock and spring loads hence the divorced spring. Why don't rear shock mount manufacturers make a larger plated upper rear shock mount to support the load over more surface area protecting the thin metal allowing this area of the chassis to support a true coilover like the Ridetech specific mount for their coilovers?

Thus why I got ridetech coilovers, to be installed soon.

because ya'll are cheap bastards and don't want to spend the money. Plus guys like Steeda/BMR are not targeting the folks who install $1000 coilovers and think they're done. All of the serious suspension suppliers use divorced spring or provide a bracket like you referenced.

The most serious JRi, MCS, and Penske don't have a reinforced bracket.

I'm thinking of just plating the area with some 1/8" contoured plate welded on. But I might take a J&M mount and weld on more plate and do it ridetech style.

There isn't much talk of fatigue of the metal here but most are not spending the big money on coilovers. I tend to think many of the rips are due to shocks bottoming out from installation and lowering issues but there is just no way to know.
