Please excuse the stupid question but how am I supposed to install the rear license plate? I found some screws in a plastic bag in the trunk, but am I supposed to drill holes in the bumper? Is that something I should have a dealer do or is it safe to do at home? Not clear to me where exactly I'd have to drill the holes.

My dealer took care of mine before I took delivery of the car. You should take it back so any errors are theirs to cover

I'm gonna bring it in to a dealer here for a oil change and splitter install soon, I can ask them to do the license plate too.

I'd like to know what they're supposed to do though so to avoid unnecessary or improper drilling...

The screws supplied are self taping. Its a rather "nerve racking" experience I'll agree! LOL

Since the tag is only secured by the two screws on the top I picked up some rubber bumpers to put on the bottom (backside) of the tag. I hope that these will keep the tag from vibrating / marring the surface under it.

I drilled very small pilot holes in the center of those little knob looking things then used the "self" tapping screws. The pilot holes help to keep the screws lined up correctly. Backed the screws out then put the plate/frame on and reinserted the screws.

Thanks, that sounds exactly what I was hoping to hear!

I dealer traded my Mustang GT from another dealer (wanted the electric seat instead of the Recaro in case my wife had to drive it. She is vertically challenged). They had stripped out the hole on one side (must have used a electric driver). I just put a plastic wire tie in the hole before inserting the screw, then trimmed off the extra and it was perfectly snug. No need for drilling and a nutsert.
I put little rubber bumpers under the plastic bracket, screwed it down and then snapped on frame.

If its attached from a phone its being uploaded as a raw file. Depending on the phone and its camera capabilities the images are quite large. Some forums will automatically resize and others wont.

Another one here who did the two top screws as normal and installed two little rubber pieces on the backside of the plate
