You have no idea what heat and humidity is till you are in the south or DC region in July and August and its 110 heat index with high humidity.......I've been up North in the summer and it felt fine to me, sure its was 84 or so one day and the locals were complaining about......the heat...I sort of laughed and told them, no....84 is not hot. In all the times I've been there and hiked the Superior National forest and the BWCA in spring, summer and fall......I've never gotten a single bug bite and thats wearing shorts and short sleeves. Guess I don't taste good.I'm fairly biased against MN, actually. At least as far as weather goes. I think it's too hot and humid in the summer, and winter is too long and cold. I love fall and spring, but some years they are way too short. When you get a really nice weather day you definitely don't take it for granted.
I wouldn't even want to live up north in MN. Used to spend some time during the summer in a cabin off Devil's Track lake near Grand Morais. It's nice near Superior, but when you get inland it's way too hot and humid. And between the mosquitoes and biting flies - even the handful of perfect weather days can be a little tough to bear.
