Not a concern but was more curious if the bolts are manufactured or modified with the wear on the end, or if this happens when it's installed.

The end aids in easy starting, which i assume you know, but not sure why it looks 'used' or there is no coating on that part as if it was man handled......idk

@Goose17 is using some easy in/out bolts on his rain tray he picked up from Ace hardware I believe. He will probably chime in and tell ya what they are called. They have knurled knobs on the end so you can quickly insert and remove the tray for sudden rain storms.

This has been said before but I lay a large beach towel below the tray to prevent some bolt loss. I drop a fastener at least one per cycle.

Both of my 2020s had cross-threaded rain tray bolts from the factory. Yes on the big towel to catch dropped bolts! Skip to 7:07 to see what I use now:

Another great video Tim and the knurl studs are a win. The $$$$ spent on the vent, the finish on the underside is a bit sad. Is it just because you have an early version because others look more finished? I still want one!

Edit... McMaster-Carr has an option in red for better finding

This is a great tip that I just wish I would have thought about earlier …

Changed the hood vents on my GT and lost a nut, yes it’s a Ford special - M4, 9mm head with a rotating captive washer :headbang:

Took them out again yesterday and held a Tupperware under them as I did the last few turns to catch them this time, next time will he the beach towel :like:

Thank you sir! Not sure if the underside will get tweaked any more on future vents, but I’m good with how mine is. The topside is what really matters and the topside is a home run!

After seeing this post I just realized I did not put the rain tray back in the car before selling it. So, for a small fee, if anyone needs a rain tray or the factory bolts, I have both. LOL
