For sure, just to clarify, I am hoping the camber plates and alignment will extend the life of my new tires that are now on the car. Pretty sure the cords would be showing if I had put another session on those. Those tires are gone.
Stupid question: how do we know when our Sport Cup 2s are toast? Mine also look like yours, and I also did my 2 track days without camber plates. I did not detect any degradation in performance, but I'm also not likely good enough discern the point at which they begin to go.For sure, just to clarify, I am hoping the camber plates and alignment will extend the life of my new tires that are now on the car. I wish I could answer the question of when we know they are worn out, but have not fully figured that out yet. Like you, my grip level had not fallen off at all on my tires as seen in the picture, but I was afraid of cording a tire and potentially wrecking my new ride so I replaced them after the event. I really wish I could put a few more sessions on them to find out when they were going to cord, but like you, I did not want to roll up at the next event and have it cut short with tires that could not last the whole event. You will know when they start to heat cycle out, but I think we will run out of rubber before we run out of heat cycles on these R Cup 2's. If yours look like mine I really don't think they will make it another full day, let alone two, but if you decide to chance it please let us know how long before the cords start to show.Stupid question: how do we know when our Sport Cup 2s are toast? I'm hoping to get another 2 track days out of these tires with the right camber. I would hate to show up at the track and have my tires go to crap and lose a day.
Also, what's the collective thought on using race-worn tires on the street? I gotta believe they have a life left in them if used for cruising on dry pavement.
How can you tellThose tires are gone.
