So are you interested in helping someone who really wants an R model find a car, or are you interested in making a profit?

If you just want to help someone get a decent deal, sell it to someone who wants it for at most 1-2k over what you're being sold the allocation for. An ebay auction seems un-needed for this.

If you are looking to make money (i.e. sell for 10k or more over what you are paying), perhaps a forum full of enthusiasts looking to help one another out is not the best place to advertise.

Did the guy use poor judgement to come on this forum full of enthusiasts and out himself for how he is going to use this opportunity to line his pockets? Sure he did but let's not lambast him too badly.

We live in a capitalistic society and there is nothing inherently wrong with that. So everyone has a right to figure out how to make money (as long as it isn't harming someone or illegal) however they see fit. That's all the OP is doing here. Simple economics at work here. Very limited supply leads to increased prices. The dealership is really the one getting worked over but again if they are happy with only 5K ADM on a car that is so limited and desired then so be it.

If I had an R allocation at 5k or under, I would hold onto the car and drive it, period.

If I had it parked in public and someone came and offered me 20k over I might have to think about it, but I would definitely not be asking a forum of enthusiasts for advice and then transition to promoting the auction/drumming up interest.

Have to say I agree with Spa2K. All of you supposed "let a enthusiast get it post" are full of it. I'm going to call each and every one of you on it. If you had this deal you would do the same and probably charge more.

Heck some of you posting had several allocations for a regular GT350 if I remember correctly. He put in the time, found a decent dealer, but jumped the gun. Now he has a way to lower his own cost and give someone else a R. At the price the dealers have it marked up, it may be a deal.

At the end, he is doing what will benefit himself and not doing illegally. More power to you OP, and good luck with your sale.

As I posted, I simply would not, I would buy it and drive it. I bought my track pack car out of state at MSRP and could have easily flipped it locally given the market, but it still sits in my garage.

Not everyone is driven by profit, but please, feel free to "call me" on it. :shrug:

So let me ask this. If you had a allocation on a R, you would simply "pass it on to the first guy that PM'd you". Yeah ok. That might be true. It might be true indeed. Sure.

But lets say he keeps the R and sell the Tech ? Would he be the same bad guy ? Oh wait...yeah he would be such a bad guy for wanting the R he took the time to find and buy it.

As I said.....I'm calling BS. Yeah going to stand by it. So I will amend it to 98% of this forum. Better ?

wow fellas, no need for "enthusiasts" to attack each other. I obviously am not worried about the comments. This is no different than any other forum I have been on. There are some that will call names(getting stabbed in an alley may be a new one) but it isn't a big deal to me. I was honest up front and if it bothers some, so be it. I certainly will not apologize for it.

Frame the question a different way. Say I came on here and stated that I had a method of getting the GT350 I wanted at $10K-$20K under MSRP doing nothing illegal, I doubt many on here would tell me not to do it. Via PM, I said that I would like to clear $10K on the car and I think I will have no problem doing that. So, if that means I take some lumps on here while still driving my standard GT350, not an issue for me.

I do often wonder if those that offer such strong opinions of others over the internet actually think it has an impact. If someone calls you guys names or wishes you would be killed in an alley, does it actually bother you? If so, I bet you are a lot of fun in real life.

But as it was said earlier, whats said on the internet will affect nobody. I truly mean nobody. That is the one great truth of the internet, anonymity. It let people be the asses they always wanted to be.

Who's a hypocrite here? It saddens me to know that a fellow airman would succumb to the motivation of coming on a site where people have been fighting hard to attain an R and be braggadocious about auctioning off an item in greed.

There's just something about honor and integrity... You know, looking out for others above self. That's why we as airmen sacrifice, or at least I thought it was. But I see how greed is a motivator here... And if one airman calls out another airman on matters of conduct then that's perfectly fine.

Enjoy your auction man... Still, I do believe you could've done his without posting this on a site where others are chomping at the bit to be in your shoes.

You seem very confused. I am quite certain that the core value is Service before Self. And please show me where selling a commodity for a profit is a lack of integrity.

Now, if you had come out and said that you think it is morally wrong, so be it. Morals are, well, to each their own. And, uh, I have to think you work on planes, in services or security forces as you severely lack the acumen required to succeed in the business world.
