Hey fellas, been lurking for an age and finally made an account today.

I recently purchased a 2020 GT after being out of the car game for about 13 years.

I found a great deal on a FRPP Extreme catback I couldn’t pass up for 1,000 bucks on Jegs. After I installed it, I liked it, but after driving for awhile the noise is a bit annoying sometimes.

Are there any valved resonators like there are valved mufflers that allow you to go from a quiet to louder setting? I don’t have active exhaust, and don’t want to buy a whole new catback.

The valved resonator would be ideal, but if it’s not made I’m looking for resonator opinions. I’ve read the Borla is a bit too quiet, the Magnaflow Tru-X isn’t made anymore, and the FRPP resonator isn’t made anymore (which after reading through a thousand threads that seemed ideal).

Thanks for your opinions fellas!

None exist as far as I'm aware. That is a fairly tight location, in order to correctly make a valved resonator you'd need to build a bypass path for both sides, which would be a tough thing to pull off neatly.

Additionally other members have tried to "quiet down" some x and h pipes and found that unless you use a very large muffler (taking up most of the space down there) the sound doesn't decrease a noticeable amount.

Basically a Borla Atak, isn't it?

Easy solution is to buy a new catback and try to sell your existing one to recoup some funds

IMO the aftermarket valve setups are not that high of quality, end up not working, are expensive, and the controller for them can be clunky

It's better to be on the side of too quiet than too loud.

If I were in your shoes I would either get the Borla resonator or the Jones resonators. Quite a few members are happy with theirs.

Custom setup is the way to go if you want valves. Otherwise it depends on budget and how quiet u wanna go, youd be best off replacing the muffler for a quieter one. Resonators wont fix overly loud exhaust. Resonators fix drone and tone mainly
