I know some people had some drone issue from certain exhaust.

Maybe this will help. X pipe resonator from magnaflow. At least this is much more compact compare to the gigantic stock one. I am thinking about building a custom exhaust with this.

Wait. Some sites are calling this a muffler though. I could be wrong though but maybe this would be a mid pipe muffler and the tails could have the resonators?

It's basicly a perforated x pipe inside with sound damping material. The straight through muffler/resonator are pretty much identical other than the muffler usually has more damping material.

Btw the factory muffler is straight through too, but the mid resonator is not. I think the mid resonator probably blocked the most amount of noise. It's just by replacing it with simple x pipe probably will induce drone.

I think you have it backwards, the stock resonator is straight and the mufflers are not.
