Quick review on my roush axle back

I'm sure there's tons of these but thought I'd share and maybe help some people who are undecided.

Only have like 100-200km on it so sound might change? I don't know how that works.

Overall 7-7.5/10. But extremely good bang for buck.

Cold start: amazing. that's it. super loud
Tone: a bit on raspy side. if 5/10 is stock, 10 is deep, 0 is full on raspy, it's at about a 3? So not too raspy. I thought I wanted deep but now I'm not sure. I'll have to hear a deep one in person.

Volume: in residential streets very loud. not overly loud IMO but, yeah if i was old or something I could see myself hating that person. on highway or busy streets, it's not too loud, which is a negative for me. I want to hear it! but then again if it was loud on a highway, it would be too deafening in residential for me? I don't know, i actually think it could be a little louder. too bad I don't like the sound of it with the x/h pipe for some reason? maybe i'll change my mind.

Thoughts: I think now that i've driven it just a bit, i might change the exhaust in 2-3 years. It's decent, but what i MIGHT want is (if this is possible) more low rpm volume. i don't need it to scream when i'm flooring it. i mean yeah i want it louder than stock, but i also know 95% of my driving is low-mid rpm.
This exhaust wakes up after about 3000rpm. And in the busy city its hard to find places to hear it. I floor it for a bit, and before I know it I'm already running out of space and have to brake.



Long story short, I have my own questions too
1) Does volume change after a break in? what's the break in period. does the roush get louder?
2) Can anyone recommend an exhaust that has more lower RPM volume, but doesn't sacrifice high end volume too much? I hear some nice deep exhausts that have a decent tone, but their volume is lacking. Is that jus the tradeoff? raspy is loud, deep more quiet? Veto MBRP :/
3) How does this affect mileage? I think mine's gotten worse actually. Could just be because I'm driving like an idiot to hear it more lol.
4) so x pipe more raspy, h pipe deeper? how much louder does it get with these. will it help low rpm volume?

I agree with your assessments on the tone. I also agree that I would like just a tad bit more noise from them, but I just don't think removing the suitecase is going to be what I want (it will be too loud then). My wife would hate me too...:lol:

I didn't notice any noise change during "break-in". Mine has about 10,000 miles on it right now.

I only know from what I've listened to on videos and my friend Paul that has a Corsa cat-back on his 2015. The Corsa is probably too loud for me, but sounds great. I think if I do anything, I'd try out replacing the suitecase with an X-pipe (FRPP or equivalent). I've heard some videos of that setup and it sounds fantastic. My issue is that a lot of full cat-backs have weird sound, not that classic sound you get with the Roush AB. Just my opinion.

No it wouldn't affect mileage. I have the same issue as you, just driving it harder because of the exhaust! haha

Yes you are right. I'm not for certain on the low RPM volume, but I've heard you might get some drone, which is the main reason I haven't done it yet. I might get it setup so that I can easily swap the suitecase out so if I go on a trip then I can put the suitecase back in.

No, there's no packing material inside the roush cans so there's nothing to actually break-in.

Add an x or h pipe and you'll get a lot more volume.

Keep your foot out the gas. Easier said than done lol. Exhaust won't change your MPG.

Noticeably louder. I have the roush + X-pipe and cold starts can be kind of obnoxious, but after 5-10 seconds even in 30 degree weather, it's very tame. Yes, a resonator delete will help low end volume as well. I have absolutely no drone with this system and I have all the volume I'll ever need (until I get longtubes of course).

On some days I wish it was louder, but these cold starts in winter can get crazy loud. I feel like there's no system i'd be completely happy with. Starting it in my car port or parking garage can sometimes be too loud. Starting it in a busy parking lot outside, can barely hear it.

Worried an x/h pipe would be too loud as well. Maybe I'll wait to hear those setups in person.

i'll be honest, i don't think until the 2015s came out did i hear the "cold start" thrown around so much.

i don't think i have ever really worried about 10-15 seconds of a louder tone myself.

I got Roush's too and I am in the same boat. I came from a 13 that had the Boss Mid-pipe with side exhaust plus the Roush Axlebacks. The volume is pretty underwhelming at low RPMs and I wish they had a deeper tone on the 15.

I suppose not just cold start I'm worried about. Getting WOT or higher rpms, its crazy loud already. I can't imagine that any louder, and if i'm doing that not on a track...I don't want any more attention -_-

But we'll see. I could see myself putting an x/h pipe in about 2 years or so.

Can anyone comment on highway cruising volumes? I do mostly highway driving with my PP GT, primarily between 60 to 80mph's. Is highway cruising still comfortable with this exhaust, or is it constantly shouting at you?

Definitely comfortable. Even in my car with with the top down and no sound insulation from the roof, the exhaust has just a hit of aftermarket - giving off a deeper exhaust note, but by no means loud or offensive for highway driving. The Roush mufflers really only start barking at WOT.

As stated the cans are hollow so sound should not change, if you're looking for more noise and tone i would suggest considering an H pipe

I have the Roush Ab w/ h pipe, and Cruising speed around 70-80mph in 6th you have to really listen for the exhaust sound to hear it, usually road noise is louder then the exhaust, but drop a gear and go wot and at 3000 up it starts to scream
