Well, this thread has confirmed my suspicions that the diffusers are indeed different. I too like the blacked out look and had thought about dipping it, but I wanted to make sure that I couldn't just swap/mount the premium diffuser somehow. I guess I'll be doing some dipping this weekend when it's warm lol.

I think if you wait a few months there will be aftermarket solutions for this

I went all black with the plastidip, really thinking about doing it over so that it looks like what you all have done. I really like that look.

Quit posting pics! It's 50° outside today and you all are going to have me outside dipping my diffuser! LOL

I def did mine in 20-30 degree weather:headbonk:, and it was an hassle keeping the cans warm despite warm buckets of water and handwarmers from football to aide me....crazy thing is it seemed to dry faster in the cold in my opinion:shrug:.... it was well worth it!!:headbang:

Someone should post a clean how to, I'm sure others would appreciate it. I would but don't have car yet.

I agree. My main question is the area around the reverse light. The outer area (that you all are painting black) seems easy enough because there is a nice clean ridge from end to end up top. What about the area around the reverse light that stays body colored. Where do you mask off there? There doesn't seem to be a clean line to follow. Are you just winging it?
