There are McGard locking lug nuts of different lengths. The one I posted is 1.639".

I need to go out and measure.
So, what is the length of the stock lug nut?
I posted the lengths here in December:

http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?p=386630&highlight=lug+nuts#post386630

The stock nut is just short of 1.5" long at the middle peak. The McGard locks from Ford are 1 7/8" long and the Gorilla "The System" locks are just about 1.5" long, but when you replace all 20 you don't notice it.

I've read Gorilla lug nuts rusting so I try to stay away from them. I'm looking for a better fit and most OEM like. Too bad McGard doesn't make shorter than 1.639".

Yeah, that's the price you pay for a non-spline type. They need to add the keyed area at the top of the nut.

I don't have snow or salt here in California, so I don't see rust issues. Are people reporting rust on the full chrome ones? The black ones are supposed to be 'black chrome" and they held up for me on cars since 2011 with frequent removals.

For those that have the Gorilla "the system" locks, will the key fit on a 1/2" drive torque wrench? If not, what size drive do I need in order to use a torque wrench to make sure they're torqued to spec? Or do I use a socket to drive the key? Pardon my extreme ignorance--I've never had wheel locks before...

Thanks in advance for the help!

The Gorilla Automotive 71643NBC are NOT the ones you want. The Conical Seat contact area is smaller than the original lugs, NOT good for aluminum wheels tighting down @ 150ft-lbs! I bought these based on this thread and returned them to Amazon.

Gorilla Wheel Locks 96643BDX ARE the ones you want.
Key phrase here is: Conical Seat Type = Bulge
With these you will not see the "Silver Ring" of aluminum wheel showing around the smaller 71642NBC lugs, meaning you do have the design full Conical Seat contact area !!!

I found them at:

bought them with the car, dealer forgot to install. I don't have a lugwrench at the moment :/
I have them too on my GT PP but I am wondering where is the key.

Hi All

I have been lurking on this forum for a few weeks, but you guys seem to be the most knowledgeable for the S550's...

So, I agree the the stock Ford locks are ugly and may not even work wheel since they seem easy to get a wrench of sorts on them an remove them.

What wheel Gorilla locks are the correct part number?

71643NBC or 96643BDX?

Looking for my GT PP car.

Thank you in advance!

PS well I took a moment to contact Gorilla and ask them and that said that 96643BDX would be the correct fit...

If you call Jon (Gorilla Lugs National Warranty Sales Manager) at 323-585-2852 he will flat out tell anyone that BOTH model numbers are made for our cars. He'll tell you the 96643BDX was made to most closely matched lug to the OEM where the curved portion seats perfectly in the diameter of the lug hole. HOWEVER, he'll also tell you that the 71643NBC version works just fine for the 2015 Mustang GT PP wheel as well - even though the seat area is slightly smaller.

I personally chose the 71643NBC version and have had them for 9 months. I've taken my wheels off and on several times for various work done on my car. Each time I've put them back on, I've tightened the 71643NBC lugs to specs - 150 ft lbs with no issues. Yes the curved diameter is shorter on the 71643NBC than the 96643BDX, but either should work just fine.

Ultimately it's up to you to choose what works best for you and to buy the ones that you prefer.

For your peace of mind, maybe the 96643BDX are the ones you should get.

You can get the 71643NBC here - http://www.amazon.com/Gorilla-Automo...words=96643bdx

Or you can get 96643BDX here - http://www.summitracing.com/parts/gor-96643bdx

I want to get the Chrome version of the 96643BDX. Summit has this:

Is this the Chrome version? I have a '15 GT with the stock 18" wheels.
