As people posted. Peace of mind and for my insurance if they ask. I got them for free anyway.
Yea. I guess the old saying applies - "couldn't hurt and might help."

Thanks.

I had a set that came with my last ride but figured they weren't worth the hassle. Like others have said it might be enough to stop your average thief but in my area, if they really want those wheels, they will take them one way or the other.

A few years back my Uncle went on vacation, came back and his truck was scrapped right on his driveway. It was a "nice" neighborhood too. If I remember correctly, he went the extra distance for security measures and still couldn't avoid an incident :tsk:.

My $0.02...

When the locking lugs stick out that far, they can be loosened and removed with a vice grip!

So I have been struggling getting lug nuts for my new winter setup. The wheels did not come with lugs and the stock ones were too fat. The place that is installing them is an auto body shop and does not sell lugs. I sent me to a wheel store and they said they would be 1/2" threads. I was going to have them installed today, are they not going to fit? I am hearing here it needs a 14mm thread?

Damn. This has been a major PITA getting my winters on. First the stock lugs were too fat. Now the ones they give me are wrong size. Hoping I can pick up the right ones today and get this over with.

They used to be 1/2", but for 2015 they changed to 14MM x 1.5 as I mentioned earlier in this thread.

Good luck.

That's the one. I hope your wheels clear your caliper. Last week, my shop had trouble to find wheels they would clear the PP front caliper.

I ordered the gorillas. I really hope they work. I have done more running around and spent several weeks and still don't have my snow tires on due to issues with the lug nuts. REALLY frustrating. They are just sitting at my installer.

Locking Lug Nuts

Does any one have the following information for all of us?

Are the factory lug nuts on the PP wheels are metric? If so, what size?

What is the outside diameter of the lug nut hole on the PP wheels for using a socket and torque wrench ?

What is the correct foot lbs. of torque for the PP wheels?

Yep, someone does have all the correct info. It's even been posted 4 or 10 times already in this tread too.

Do people still steal wheels? I thought they just took the entire car.
There was a G37 coupe in a westchester parking garage for the Metro North to NYC. I saw it all the time parked in the same spot. One day, after work, I got in my car, and was driving down the parking structure, and noticed something weird out of the corner of my eye. Drove back in reverse and noticed that the G37 was sitting on FOUR cinder blocks, and the wheels have been removed.

The cinder blocks were on the rocker panel, and you can see that the panels have creased...

The car disappeared for few weeks and it was back in the same spot with new wheels. They had locks on them the second time. :)

I took a picture with my phone. If I find it, I will post here...
