I know that the GT PP's come with a carbon fiber looking dash.

I thought that all non GT's came with a plain silver dash?

I have a base GT in DIB, only options are 3.55 rear, spoiler delete, and backup sensors. My dash is not plain silver, but is not the carbon fiber looking dash either. It has this weird design that I don't even know how to describe?:frusty:

Can someone fill me in on what the different dashes mean?

PP's have metal turned dash which looks like small fans.
My CS has diamond plated ones.
I think here is a option you can order that gets you a different dash something called premium trim but not premium package?

The funny thing is that the dash on the performance package is actual engine-turned aluminum. I don't know how, but to me it manages to look a bit tacky and plasticky despite being actual aluminum.

I'm strongly considering buying a brushed-aluminum textured vinyl to apply over the trim to make it look more like the platonic ideal of aluminum.

I was thinking about brushed-aluminum vinyl too. Or even just a matte black.

I think they turn it and then bend it and clearcoat it.
My CS looks rather diamond plated and has texture to it.

Maybe only the PP gets machine turned dash.
Other ones have printed aluminum.

But I thought base GT's get the plain silver looking dash? There is no mention of my dash on my window sticker. Is my dash the base dash? Or is it some other thing?

Looks like Base models don't get aluminum dash if you go to the Ford site and build your vehicle you can see the base interior without PP doesn't have aluminum dash.
Aluminum dash is standard on Premium models not base models.

Correct. Mine is non PP, base model and does not have the shiny dash.

From other threads on the aluminum dash and my own experience looking at and feeling my own dash, the "engine turning" on the PP dash is an overlay on top of the thin aluminum panel on the dash.

The only dash that I think feels like a real piece of aluminum is the brushed aluminum dash on the Premium GT. JMO.

I love it.

Yep, love the darker finish, even makes the AC vents/gauges pop more.
