Hello, I'm planning to do digital dash upgrade on my 2017. I pretty much understand everything about what parts are needed, there's lot of info on programming too, but there are few things I would like to ask about.
From my research I know the clusters come with different firmware "versions", like mph/kmh and/or automatic 10gear/manual transmission.
Now the thing is my car is Europe distribution and I do have 6-gear automatic transmission. So I found a part that should be perfect match (I'll post the photo). It's km/h and 10R aut. transmission, and here arises first question. Since before 2018 the transmissions were 6 gear only on automatic, will I need to do some cluster programming to get gears right (by cluster programming I don't mean asbuilt, but more advanced stuff that is cluster related and I won't probably be able to do by myself). Or will it work just fine on my 6 gear?
Second question, related to this "advanced programming" as well. Some sites offer these upgrade kits and they also want to provide VIN, is that for a reason that VIN needs to be programmed into clulster as well, or is it just for the purpose so they could generate factory asbuilt to get programming right? From what I've seen there's no VIN programming needed at least not in asbuilt. Thanks
